Blah, i guess i'm in the mood for this topic. But uh, personally I believe the "idealists" in NARUTO are the "realists".
Let me give you some examples:
Hashirama Senju = Wanted World Peace but acknowledged the reality that is WAR. He then took reasonable steps to break that system. While still being real to himself. That you cannot expect people to love you , even though you have killed many of their members.
- ex: He lets Madara go, due to the fact he realized that in reality you can't just kill someone's clan leader and then expect them to make a peace treaty with you.. That is hypocrisy.
- ex: He acknowledged the fact that even though the shinobi world might be at peace, it will not remain that way forever....
Naruto Uzumaki: = Wants to achieve Peace, but also acknowledges that it isn't simple. That it isn't a toy, that can be made anytime. It requires people understand each other. It requires understanding between Enemies. Notice, that he has never FORGIVEN anyone. He acknowledged the fact that Obito committed crimes against the village , and shinobi world, then he himself said to Obito , tha the can comeback and accept the punishment from the village (*********** Translation i believe).
Jiraiya = Preached about Peace, however was still real to himself acknowledged that the world isn't perfect.
Seems to me that the most "idealist" people (according to the fans that is) are the most realist people in the series. I mean fans would love to claim Danzo/Madara/Obito/Nagato (Pain version) are actually the most realists. However, the fact is they are also hypocrites. Danzo is an idealist more than Hashirama or Naruto or Jiraiya or hell even Hiruzen... Madara is the BIGGEST idealist in the series.
Sure they talk about "winners and losers" they talk about "hate and love". But their actions show that they do not understand them. Madara said as long as the concept of "winner" exists that there will be "losers" and that he wants to break that.. however, he is out on the battlefield, declaring himself the supreme lord.
Well what do you guys think?
Are the so called "realists" even realists? Or do they just lie to themselves?
Idealist: a person who is guided more by ideals than by practical considerations. (Though Hashi/Naruto/Jiraiya were all guided by the practical considerations to their goal)
Realist: 1. a person who tends to view or represent things as they really are. (Understanding is the only way to peace.. is actually more realist than the Infinite tsukuyomi.. or killing families in the shadows).
