Im tired of seeing people say Ichigo's Bankai is weak, we should all keep in mind that MOST Captain's train with Bankai at LEAST ten years before they are able to use it properly. Ichigo has not even been a shinigami for three, so he has been able to achieve his Shikai and Bankai within a couple months, which normally takes CAPTAINS a dozen or so years to do. He beat Byakuya shortly after he achieved his Bankai, he din't have any proper training using it and he still beat a Captain Class Shinigami. On top of this he has to either supress his hollow or use the mask, which both have drawbacks on the body, but using the mask gives him more power. Also he is a human with shinigami powers given to him, he can't PROPERLY use Getsuga Tenshou because of the exertio on his body caused by it. Plus he just took out Grimjow shortly after being revived from the dead, and directly after getting omplete control of his mask, almost got killed again by Nnoitra, and then moved on to fight Ulquirra not even being completely healed by Orihime. Plus Ulquirra was at his strongest and his the 5th most powerful Espada in terms of rank. Plus he had to do all of this while protecting Nel and Orihime. Afterwards he tried to go on to fight the most powerful Espada. Andaccording to Unohona he is the only way to beat Aizen, he is leagues ahead of all the Espada, taking number three out in two shots.

I think when people refer to Ichigo's bankai as weak they are referring to how little variety and overall strength it has compared to the other ones we've seen. He gets Getsuga Tenshou, but thats literally it so far. So all we've seen him do the past few battles is spam Getsuga Tenshou, get pwned, go hollow, kill the enemy, rinse, repeat. Its just been getting boring. What really annoys me about Kubo is that during the Byakuya fight the speed of Ichigo's bankai was shown to be ridiculous. So ridiculous that he was able to toy with Byakuya's defense. Since that battle, not once has his speed been a factor, or even mentioned in a fight. Kubo just went all Alzheimer's on us and forgot about it.
Of course that is all he uses, he does not have enough time to actually train like all the other captains. His speed is still a factor it is just all his enemies are faster then him so it makes him look slow.

I agree that Ichigo's Bankai is not weak, but he does have a lack of skill using it because he hasn't had the necessary amount of time to train with it. However, what bothered me was your comment about how him being half-human affects the rate of exertion that his body undergoes. Being half-human has nothing to do with it because when Ichigo is in his shinigami form, his human body is not present at all, as its a completely separate detached attachment (if that makes sense) from his soul (which is a shinigami), therefore his shinigami body is not under any restrictions that other shinigami are advantaged with not having. IMO, Ichigo spams Getsuga Tenshou at the wrong times in battle, and he has proven to us that his bankai's speed is extremely potent, not that his enemies are faster than him. Because, usually they are not. He rarely uses the main power of his bankai anyway. We know already that his speed in bankai is on par with Byakuya's speed, and we know that Byakuya himself is a very capable shunpo master who can probably outspeed most of the Espada. Thus, my opinion stands that Ichigo misuses his bankai or rather he does not make use of its true capabilities.

Well then maybe Kubo could have made a time skip at some point to allow him to train and get some new abilities......it is in his control after all. His speed really isn't a factor. He isn't shown to be any faster than any of the other characters around his level, which he should be considering the way Kubo portrayed his speed during the Byakuya fight.
I think there was actually no time for a timeskip. Kubo gives a timeskip and what? After that Itchigo is very fast and has cool abilities; however, the world is conquered by Aizen... eeeeeh too bad. Itchigo's bankai and sword is one of the strongest if not THE strongest fighting sword. In his shikai, he was equal to a captain level shinigami. Ichigo is quite awesome; however, without his awesome sword he would have been nothing. His bankai is extremely powerful! So much power in such a little object is just freekishly powerful. Once Ichigo develops at his fullest, he will be unstoppable.

Ichigo's Bankai compresses his spiritual power into that small sword so it wouldn't be wild and crazy as Kenpatch. If Ichigo is one of the rare few with twice the spirit power as a captain (Aizen and yamamoto) the he should be able to knock someone like Grimmjow and ulquiorra without the use of a mask. I believe that part of his bankai is that he releases small portions of his power after every fight he has win or lose.
Seems like every time he uses his bankai more power comes out. Take the first time he faced Uiquiorria even with his mask the only thing he could do was push him back and the second time he almost broke his sword. Now he maybe able to beat Grimmjow easily. That's my idea.
