Ice Falls

While the beauty of the once natural occurance of the frozen volcanic eruption has since become a thing of legend throughout the world, Asterion saw it as an oppotunity to establish an immense marker of their own upon the solid sheet of black ice, where they have opted to create an vast fortress-like harbor that has come to be known as ""Blackrock Foundary."" It is here where not only a vast majority of intercontinental trade and export is conducted, but also where much of the War Engines unique to Asterion is produced. From both land and sea, these operated constructs of devastation serve one purpose only: To instill fiery fear and encite War upon the realms.

This post marks the start of my mission with the following storyboard elements:

-Stop a brewing or exploding revolt (4)
-Survive a near-death situation (5)
-Assassinate the enemy commander (5)

Summary: After arriving in the new area, Nana finds an abandoned old temple which she begins to explore. While exploring she meets another adventurer who tells her of a cult that is using the catacombs as a base of operations for their experimentation and planning to take over the land.

Nana finished her meditation and took a stroll on the beach, and as she paced along the beach, pending about her place in this world, she stumbled over a broken piece of stone that was poking out of the beach sand. Looking upwards her gaze was drawn to a broken down archway that was poking from the mountainside, the white temple shrine looking completely run down. Strangely she hadnt known there was any temples in this area. She hadnt come across them in any of her books, so the fact that it was crumbling and falling down was curious to her. As she wandered towards the entryway, she saw some scratchings on the way, which she could barely make out.

"Scholomance"

Scholomance... hmm what could it mean? she hadn't heard it before but there were definitely signs of people being here, some burnt out torches and some small crates that were scattered around the entry. But who was here? Nana was cautious, the last time she had entered somewhere unknown she was ambushed. She wouldnt be caught unawares again.

Knocks could be heard echoing from within the building, one knock, then a pause, another, then a pause, slowly growing louder as the got closer to Nana and where she now stood. As the went on, it got louder as it got closer but then another sound carried, footsteps, but who was it. In the doorway appeared an hold man, with a staff in his hand, a grey cloak and grey hat. A long sword sat on his hip as he leaned on his staff.

"Good morning, have you come to join me on this little venture?"

Tattered Staff
Type: Weapon
Rank: S
Range: Short
Chakra: 50 (-10 per turn)
Damage: N/A (-30 when triggered)
Description: An ancient relic discovered in the Shadow Desert of Tobusekai, the Tattered Staff was said to belong to disgruntled warriors of the Jashin faith known only as the Wraiths. When confronted of their unholy acts against their lord Jashin, the Wraiths allegedly fought back and used their Kinjutsu and Sealing abilities to seal their spirits with the other Jashinists, causing their souls to merge and become sealed within a lone staff. Ornate markings and symbols line the handle of it with a lone crescent moon shaped tip at the top. This staff, recently discovered, has the ability to bond the user and his target's spiritual and physical energy to one another; whenever the user triggers it, countless entities flood the field near instantly and form a translucent purple sphere 20 meters around the targets. Those within the sphere become entangled and linked on such a nature that whenever the user takes damage, his opponent feels that same damage doubled. This effects extends to both allies and enemies, a cruel invention of those rogue Jashinists to sacrifice as many as possible to their Lord Jashin.
Note: Sphere lasts up to 6 turns and can be used 3 times per event.
Note: When in use, the user cannot cause any direct harm to himself unless using Forbidden ranked Jutsu or the recoil from other techniques. This damage does not transfer to others.
Note: The user can use this staff as an extension of him and as such, use it for Taijutsu, Kenjutsu or staff based attacks.

Nana saw an elderly man turning towards her and speaking.

"Good morning, have you come to join me on this little venture?"

She felt no threat from him, although she had some kind of feeling about him, whether it was good or not, she would be cautious as she approached.

Perhaps, depending on what your venture is. What do you know of this place? I had no idea that this temple was here, despite all the books Ive read about this land. It looks like there is some life living in this temple, but why live here, in an abandoned unknown temple?

"Live is an interesting choice of word you have there, interesting indeed... mmmm

Well, what can a book tell you that a little adventure can't, how would you like to guide this old man on his ways through, sometimes i can be a bit forgetful, and well, company is always welcome.... lead the way...."

With a nod, Nana was still unsure of the old man, but decided to trust in him for now. Nana was having an uneasy feeling like they were being watched, and as she turned back towards the entrance, her eyes noticed the two stonee gargoyls that were perched over the entrance down to the temple ruins. Had they moved? She didnt pay much attention to them before when she first arrived but now, she thought they werent that way from the corner of her eyes. She stepped closer, and she swore that their eyes flashed for a second, the gems in their sockets turning from black to green. She paused, halting mid step before continuing. Unsure if the old man had seen it as well, she continued forwards slowly watching the gargoyles as she made her way into the chamber ahead.
The was a low pitch groaning, or moaning that was coming from inside, making Nana even more uncomortable. What was this place and why was it so hidden? Why was this old man here, going on an adventure? Shaking her head, they came into this open chamber that looked like it had been converted into a library study. In the center stood an elderly man, sunken face that was chanting infront of these ruins that were etched into the floor. Surrounding him were several men and women, what looked liked disciples or something.

This doesnt look good, we probably should stop this...

They were stood on a balcony that overlook the room with a staircase descending down on either side. Well Tally ho...

Nana jumped over the edge, taking the direct route as she landed directly in the middle of the room, disrupting the ritual as she slammed her fist into the ground, causing a large shockwave to erupt and crack the floor, tearing apart the rune that was carved into the ground. Upon closer inspection it looked like it was painted with blood as well, but was now broken apart. The men and women that had surrounded the leader were thrown back into the bookcases as pages and dust went flying everywhere.

CLASS IS NOW IN SESSION

The older man who looked down upon Nana screamed out. She could see a disfigured face, scarred and gaunt underneath his hood with a knife in one hand as he reached out to her.

- Explore the history of something

Summary: Gandalf enters into the ancient building in search of knowledge to be met with a challenge...

Gandalf made his way into the building before him, cautiously as he knew not what lay before him. Holding his sword at the ready, he made his way through the main door before heading down a set of stairs into the dungeon below. The rooms were dark, leaving him struggling to see even with his rinnegan. Releasing his chakra into the staff the jewel in the end began to glow, casting light around the room, enough so he could see, though it still seemed extremely dark. He followed the steps which spiralled down below before entering a large room. It would seem as though no one had been down here in years. Holding his staff down towards the ground he could see that there was a thick layer of dust settled in, the only marks being his footprints. As he cast light around the room he could see the mass cobwebs spread around.

Making his way forwards he would swing his sword every now and then slicing through cobwebs clearing his path. As he made his way to one side he could see something before him, a stand it would seem. On it lay open a book, a fragile one at that. He gave it a gentle blow, the webs and dust pushing off the delicate pages. Gandalf was old, beyond the years of counting but even this seemed ancient to him, he looked down casting light on the page. He tried to read the text but that would not come easy. He could make out the title, it would seem it was called "Book of Mazarbul."

The text itself was a form of runes, that of one of the clan's of old:

Gandalf needed to know what had happened here, why it was in the condition the way it was and so he tried, and began to read, slowly making sense of the runes...

"We cannot get out. We cannot get out. They have taken the bridge and Second Hall......"

Who was trapped here... what was stopping them from getting away?

" and and fell there bravely while the rest retreated to the Chamber of…Mazarbul."

Those names, they seemed familiar, a clan of old indeed, one that went by the name "Son's of Durin". They preferred to live below ground, under the earth, great miners who forged great halls of stone, crafted the greatest weapons and were unrivalled in their smithing skills. But how had they come to be here? Was this their home?

"We are still ho{ldin}g...but hope …Óin's party went five days ago but today only four returned. "

Something wasn't right. What was keeping them there? In that moment a thud sounded from the depths below. Something was there. The very ground shook. Gandalf held his staff and sword, but he read on...

"The pool is up to the wall at West-gate."

Another thud, dust fell from the ceiling. What ever had come for them was awake... still...

"The Watcher in the Water took --we cannot get out. "

Was the watcher the thing below? Or something else entirely?

"The end comes soon. We hear drums, drums in the deep."

The thudding grew louder, the tunnel at the end where Gandalf had entered glowed bright red. It would seem as though the clan of Durin never left this place. The reason this place as in the state it is in, was due to the what ever was coming from below. From reading the text it would seem as though there was no escape. That didn't matter now. All's Gandalf could do would be to face this ancient terror. With that he read the last line...

"They are coming....."

Gandalf saw that the line dew off, something had indeed come. Who ever had wrote this had perished here, he was about to find out. Gandalf held his sword right, his staff forwards. Flames began to flicker through the doorway followed by smoke. It couldn't be...

"A Balrog of Morgoth..."

With that the smoke and flame burst forth, a demon of fire and shadow know as a "Balrog", something created in ancient times by those who experimented with yin and yang giving life to the most atrocious things. Either the Son's of During had created it, or just had the misfortune of having to come across it.

"I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. You cannot pass! The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udûn. Go back to the Shadow! You cannot pass!"

As he spoke his staff began to glow. But the demon came forth in it's full form. His body as large as a house, it's wings of smoke and darkness spread out. It's mouth gaping open as it screamed in Gandalf's direction releasing a wave of pure heat from it's voice alone. A sword and whip of focused flame armed the beast.

"You cannot pass!!!"

Gandalf shouted. The beast drew back its whip and swung it down on Gandalf. Holding up his staff he created a barrier of absolute repulsing effect, pushing the whip back, but the shock wave alone caused rock to fall from the ceiling. The sparks jumped from his shield igniting the room.

You must be registered for see images
Even Gandalf's absolute defence shuddered under the might of the beast. Now came the beast's sword, smashing into his shield, although it managed to hold for a moment pushing the beast back, the shield broke, leaving Gandalf defenceless. How strong was this demon? It was no surprise the Son's of Durin had fell to this beast and couldn't escape. Gandalf had learned a lot in such a short time here but he would make sure to let the world know of the deeds of the clan of old. Now the beast drew back it's whip again.

( Shinra Tensei ) - Divine Punishment
Type: Supplementary/Defensive/Offensive
Rank: S
Range: Short
Chakra: 40 ( +20 per extra range )
Damage: N/A
Description: Using the Deva Paths abilities to manipulate gravitational forces, the user will repulse and push away anything around him up to a given range, in all directions, producing an omni-repulsion effect. The force and repulsive effect is absolute, affecting both energy and matter alike. The technique itself can be used with different ranges/sizes, depending on how much chakra the user spends for the technique and can even, in its smaller form, be sustained, forming a static defensive field instead of a wave-like effect.
Shōkibo - Small Scale: the user will push away anything around him up to short range. The offensive power in this size is not that high as it hits opponents but can still do severe damage. It isn't, however, fatal, boasting a physical 40 damage. If the user focuses this ability with the help of his hands he can sustain a defensive absolute repulsive field around him. He can't, however, do any technique while he is sustaining it and he can only sustain it for 2 turns. Once used, takes one turn cool down to use gravitational related techniques again.
Chūkibo - Medium Scale: the user will push away anything around him up to mid range. The offensive power in this size is severe, sending opponents flying backwards with enough force to, if not defended properly, leave near fatal physical damage. Although not directly fatal, the technique boasts a physical damage of 80. If the user focuses this ability through one or both hands, he can push away a specific target or technique alone, instead of producing the normal omni-repulsive wave. Once used, takes 2 turns cool down to use gravitational related techniques again.
Ōkibo - Large Scale: the user will push away anything around him up to long range. The offensive power of the technique is devastating and anything in its path that doesn't manage to defend properly is left obliterated. Its fatal if unguarded, boasting a physical damage of 160. Using this techniques poses a great deal of danger to the user as he damages his chakra pathway itself to be able to mold sufficient chakra to perform it. Once used, the user loses the use any gravitational related techniques for the remainder of the fight and is unable to mold chakra for techniques above A-Rank for 5 turns.
Note: The technique is immune to normal Elemental Weaknesses and Strengths and as such can't be blocked or stopped. However, the enemies can still use techniques that prevent or reduce physical damage to their bodies to survive its effects or escape its range through a fast enough technique. This means that in the large scale, while the technique can't be stopped or directly countered, enemies can still manage to survive if the logically counter.
Note: can only be used by Rinnegan bios with the ( Tendō ) - Deva Path active

Gandalf wasn't out for the count just yet, this was a beast of the darkness, he would deal with it with the power of the light. He held up his sword releasing his chakra through it, lightning would stream down into his sword, focusing it into his blade. As the beast swung down, he held his blade forth releasing the stream of lightning enhanced his his own ancient power, his six paths senjutsu. The lightning hit the beast blasting it back before the whip could connect. His arms would smash through the walls by the entrance it came through, breaking it apart. The entire room began to shake. The roof began to crack, it wouldn't hold. He couldn't beat this beast with this. It was too strong, if he stayed any longer he would be crushed by the building caving in. He bolted for the end of the room away from the beast diving through just as the beast screamed, releasing a blast of fire. Though it didn't reach, the ceiling came down on the flames extinguishing them.

(Raiton: Ikazuchi no Kiba) - Lightning Release: Fangs of Lightning
Type: Offensive
Rank: B

Gandalf sat breathless having felt the history of this world, a terifying secret to say the least. As he sat catching his breath he thought over how this place come to be, glad it was over. But in that moment something cause his eye through the rubble beyond. The rocks, they glowed red.... the beast wasn't done....

This post marks the start of my mission with the following storyboard elements:

- Defend yourself from wild beasts

Summary: Gandalf thought he'd escaped... maybe from one foe....

Through the rubble Gandalf could see the glow of fire, the beast, the demon, what ever you want to call it, wasn't finished with. Gandalf turned and sprinted as fast as he could up the stairs, but it was though the building had changed. He hadn't come out where he'd gone in. Now he was in a long corridor, sprinting to down it, his staff held in front of him lighting the way. Weaving through the building until finally he could see a doorway at the end, breaking through it. Though where he came out he had no idea. It was no opening, no courtyard, nothing of the sorts. It was like the doorway lay in the side of the mountain that sloped down with a dark creepy forest. The air was still and thick, the area seemed darker than it should, the forest itself was so quiet you could hear a branch snap from 100 meters away.

Gandalf hesitated for a moment but then the ground shook. He heard a smash behind him. The cry of the demon echoing behind him. He had no choice. He burst forth through the trees full speed ahead, trying to get as far from the beast as he could, maybe it would give up. He kept going as fast as he could, covering ground quite quickly, but soon growing tired. After about 15 minutes he began to slow down. Coming to a steady walk before he stopped, he listened. Waiting. No sound of the demon could be heard, and so catching his breathe he looked around. The trees were all misshaped but there was no clear direction he should go. He would of headed downhill but it all seemed flat and it was impossible to tell what time of day it was so he just kept walking now. It seemed like an eternity, passing through yet there seemed to be no end. It was in the moment that something triggered in his mind.

"I've been here before"

He saw a tree that seemed familiar, his own footprints in the ground and the way ahead was as he remembered it. But he had just gone straight. What could it be? He quickly brought his hands together releasing a surge of chakra.

( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
Rank: C-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15-40
Damage Points:
N/A Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his chakra, causing an imbalance. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. Academy Student rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. Genin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. Chunin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. Jounin rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.

Suddenly the area around him changed, spiders webs lay all over the trees, a dark green hue was in the air, it was a trap. Hearing something he looked up just in time, swinging his staff above him he struck with as much force as he could sending the thing from above flying away. As it landed it scrabbled to it's feet. A spider the size of Gandalf. The childen of Shelob where here. But how?

You must be registered for see images

Gandalf was surrounded now as the beasts dropped around him, he counted at least 20. Though there could even be more. Gandalf drew his sword and held his staff in the other hand looking around. There was a pause for a moment but then all of them swarmed at once. He couldn't take them all, using his staff, just as they were a meter away from him, he struck the ground in a burst of light, the closest beasts were engulfed in light and fire. In the distraction Gandalf had escaped through the beasts now running again. Now he was free of the illusion he could tell where down hill was, moving as fast as he could.

(Katon: Kaji Kawari ) - Fire Substitute
Type: Supplementary
Rank: C
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This jutsu uses the Ox handseal. When your opponent attacks you, you disappear in a cloud of fire. When you poof away, your opponent gets burnt while they are in that cloud of fire that you created.

The webs behind him were burning away as many of the beasts couldn't get by but there was still at least 5 chasing him. It was no use he wasn't fast enough. Sliding to a halt, he held his sword in the air drawing lightning down into his blade. The bolt hitting his sword hard but he managed to control it, channel it, and then turning pointing it towards the beasts chasing him and fired the bolt in their direction. They slid to a halt hoping to avoid but the lightning hit with a crash.

Smoke filled the area from the blast but as it cleared it seemed that the lightning had completely missed them. They looked around at each other, then hissed and slowly began to walk forwards again. They were halted once more, a creaking sound. The sound of bending wood. They turned to see from either sides of them to trees were burnt cracked and cam crashing down on them, they tried to scramble away but they were all crushed. All but one. It hissed furiously and began bolting towards Gandalf, raging, wanting to make him pay for what he'd done. Gandalf stood ready, his sword in hand and waited for the beast. It was one on one now.

The beast came fast and aimed to lunge at Gandalf. He stopped, he waited calmly, watching the beasts motions. As the beast lunged, it's fangs barred aiming to tear at Gandalf's flesh, in a sudden burst Gandalf burst to the side of it, while it was mid aint, lightning flowing through his sword he brought it down through the beast cleaving it clean in half, it's green acid like blood spewing along the floor. It's legs twitched for a few seconds before it was still.

(Han Sochi no jutsu)- Half Step technique
Rank: S
Type: offence
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 40
Damage points: N/A
Description: This is a style of Chinese martial arts where the user uses precise chakra control to move half a step out of the way when being attacked at close range. The user is then facing the side of the enemy. The enemy can only react to this attack and counter if they are advanced taijutsu users because they have been trained in advanced levels. This advanced technique can be followed up with an attack to counter their move.

Gandalf relaxed for a moment, finally being able to stop but then he heard the screech far off, it was far from over, he turned and burst down the hill now, having a clear direction. He just had to get away from those spiders.

Fight an enemy much stronger than yourself

Summary: There was no escape, he had to face it...

Gandalf made it through the woods to only find himself at the base of a mountain, in it a doorway carved of stone with runes all around. He recognised these as the same as the ones he'd previously read. Through this script he found the secret handle to pull to open the doors, with it the 2 foot thick stone doors began to open on their own. He began passing into it. He couldn't afford to fight any more of those spiders. Entering into the side of the mountain the doors closed behind him. He lit up the end of his staff looking around. At first he thought it was a mine, but this was no mine it was a tomb.

You must be registered for see images

He made his way through, there was no turning back. As he passed through his memories came back to him, this was an old mining kingdom, by the name of Khazad-dûm, but a dark shroud surrounded it and later it became knowing as Moria. For hours he made his way through before finding an open room with a light cast in it. It was a tomb. The lord of moria lay here. Balin. So even the lord of the realm couldn't escape the fate of his race. Gandalf made his way to the door when he heard it. The roar once more, it couldn't be, the fire demon.

Breaking out into a sprint he made his way through one of the greatest halls you would ever seen. As he made his way to the farm end, the room began to grow warmer. He stole a glance over his shoulder and his heart sank. The other end of the giant hallway began to glow red. It was coming. He reached a three way pass that by fortune alone he knew the way. Breaking into a spring now he went down the middle one. Leading him to the Durin's Bridge. He began running across it, the deep endless cavern below pure darkness. The bridge was narrow, he slowed, he stumbled, though he did not fall.

As he got halfway across, there was a gust of wind behind him as a mass of smoke swarmed forwards into the demon made of fire and smoke with its fiery whip in hand.

There was no escaping the beast, he'd have to fight it, he'd have to put an end to it one way or another, but how? He'd tried lightning and that hadn't really worked. Fire would clearly be useless so it was time to try and be smart about it. He used his affinity for water, forming and orb of water in front of him shooting towards the beast aiming straight for its head. Hoping that it could be knocked backwards, or even extinguished. Though it was no use. As the beast made contact, the flames seem to part as the demons body turns to smoke and passed around the water dragon as it hit the wall behind.

The demon quickly reformed it's whip of fire drawn swinging down to hit Gandalf, he formed the water into a shield but the fire whip came through the water, he held his staff and sword up in an X shape, but the whip was two strong sending him flying back sliding along the bridge. Gandalf struggled to his feet coughing from the force of the blow, his skin and robes scorched in places. He couldn't die here. The beast now took a step towards him, Gandalf took a step back. A rock caught his foot, being knocked off the bridge dropping down below. Gandalf regained his balance. The beast took a step forwards and Gandalf took another step back looking down. Gandalf had an idea...

The beast releases a roar of pure scorching waves of heat, just as it scorched gandalf's beard he threw up an absorbing barrier just in time as it passed over him. He was trying everything but nothing seemed to work. Now he stood strong. The balrog moved moves as it's whip flailed, making gandalf uneasy on his feet but he knew what he had to do.

Gandalf held up his staff, the beast was nearing the middle of the bridge. Gandalf gathered his chakra into his staff before slamming it down into the bridge below his feet. There was a pause.. nothing happened. A rumble. The beast took a step forwards as it went to swing at Gandalf once more, but before it could connect, the bridge below the beast collapsed crumbling away causing the beast to fall down into the darkness below. Its arms flailed, the smoke and flames trying to grab hold of something but it was too late the beast was done for.

Gandalf finally breathed again. His body wounded, he was tired, he constantly fought and ran, he needed to rest. He turned to walk to the end of the bridge but as he did so something caught his feet, the fiery whip, with a tug it pulled him down into the chasm below.

Pulled down into the depths below. Gandalf struggled to compose himself as he fell, before he managed to steady himself, falling down towards the beast below. He'd lost his staff but he held his sword in hand. He turned his body so he was diving straight down towards the beast below. He'd used lightning once before but now he would try it again, empowered by his sword. Charging it with masses of lightning it began to glow. Getting closer towards the demon, the heat radiating was intense, nearly unbearable but Gandalf had no choice, he swung his blade slicing through the chest of the beast cutting through the smoke and fire. He beast screamed out in rage and pain. Was it the lightning, it being an energy that hurt it or the fact that it was a form of light cutting through the dark. Either way Gandalf knew he could cut the beast. The beast swung knocking him away, the hit so hard he almost passed out but managed to stay with it keeping hold if his blade and swung at the best again, and again. Dodging the strikes, and continuing his lightning onslaught.

They seemed to be falling forever as the battle raged but then the chasm seemed to open up into a giant dome in the mountain. His lightning and the fire from the demon lighting it all up revealing a giant lake below. That would be the way to finish off the beast. He tried to draw away from it in the air but before he could the beast grabbed him. Slowly crushing him as it screamed in his face. Gandalfs life seemed to be slipping away... no he couldn't stop now. He released his chakra into the water below and suddenly it began to flow. All light reflected as the water became shining water. The beast blinded it tried to cover it's eyes to block the light but it it was no use. The water began to rise in the form of a giant dragon of shining light that shot up dwarfing the demon swallowing it whole, extinguishing it for good.

Gandalf fell, being caught in the water as it returned to the lake. He was exhausted, broken, hurt... with his remaining energy he had one thought, he needed to go one as a surge of yang chakra flowed through his body as he sank into the light as the water dropped down... the waves pushing everything out to the shores beyond....

And with it... Gandalf...

Jutsu used:

(Suiton: Suiryuudan no Jutsu) - Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique
Type: Offensive
Rank: A - S
Range: Short - Long
Chakra Cost: 30 - 40
Damage Points: 60 - 80
Description: After performing a long series of handseals: Ox → Monkey → Hare → Rat → Boar → Bird → Ox → Horse → Bird → Rat → Tiger → Dog → Tiger → Snake → Ox → Ram → Snake → Boar → Ram → Rat → Yang Water → Monkey → Bird → Dragon → Bird → Ox → Horse → Ram → Tiger → Snake → Rat → Monkey → Hare → Boar → Dragon → Ram → Rat → Ox → Monkey → Bird → Yang Water → Rat → Boar → Bird, the user then shapes a large amount of water into a giant, powerful dragon, which hits the opponent with formidable might, dealing physical damage. The ideal place to use it is near a body of water, but if the user's skill allows it, it is possible to use it even in a place where there is none. The amount of water used will be in proportion with the user's skill as well as its power which can vary. Ninjas with a water specialty will be able to produce up to an S-Rank technique; normal ninja will produce the basic A-Rank technique. Tobirama was able to use this technique with a single hand seal showing testiment to his skill in water ninjutsu.

Note: Requires a nearby water source.

(Doton: Iwa Yado Kuzushi) - Earth Release: Stone Lodging Destruction
Type: Supplementary
Rank: C
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 15
Damage: N/A (up to 60)
Descripton: The user will do one hand seal and cause nearby earth structures (either natural occurring ones on the field (such as cave ceilings, cliffs, etc), man made (buildings, etc) or jutsu made (up to C-Rank active structures)) to collapse and fall. This technique allows the ninja to control nearby stone and rock and dislodge any vulnerable or sensitive spots, causing the structure to collapse. This can be especially useful if in a cave or a stone lodging. The technique can loosen the rocks and cause them to come raining down on whomever is trapped inside. The damage depends on the size of the cavern or rock lodging above or nearby the target and not on the amount of chakra used which doesn't need to be high. A large cave with a thick ceiling can easily do the physical damage equivalent to an A-Rank technique but due to the damage not being focused or chakra fueled, its also easily defendable.

( Kusanagi no Tsurugi: Chidorigatana ) - Grass Cutter Sword: One Thousand Birds Katana
Type: Supplementary/Offensive
Rank: B
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: The user flows Chidori current through a katana in manner similar to flying swallow technique. The Radiating and chirping blade can easily cut through steel. Furthermore, the body of the person cut by the sword goes numb, taking away their freedom of movement.

(Shainingumizu: Ryuu Assaimou) Shinning Water Release: Dragon Crushing Fury
Rank: S
Type: Attack
Range: Long
Chakra cost: 40
Damage points: 80
Description: The user will create a volume of water in the shape of a dragon that shoots out of the ground and can be sent to crash down into the enemy and smashing them into the ground. This technique can create a large amount of shinning water to cover the field to be used for future shinning water jutsu.
Note: This Jutsu doesn’t require a water source

(Yoton: Taiyōnomegumi) - Yang Release: Touch of the Sun
Type: Supplementary
Rank: S-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra cost:70 per use
Damage points: N/A
Description: Through the infusion of Yang natured chakra into others, users can heal others to their original best physical form. It can be used to regrow missing body parts, heal wounds, purge poisons, etc. The target needs to be alive and the bigger the injury, the longer it takes to heal. The limits of the heal, however, are almost none as it can heal 150 damage per turn and can even heal the chakra system or other injuries that are otherwise not possible to be healed. The technique requires time and physical contact and as such isn't very suited to use in a battle when compared to regular Iryo Ninjutsu.
Note: Yang Release masters are able to use on themselves.

Spawning in the New World ~Ultear

This post marks my carrying out and completion of the following storyboard element(s):

- Set up camp (D rank)

Ultear finally reached Ice Falls, exhausted and hungry, she looked around the desolate area, ice and snow everywhere, as far as the eye could see. As she looked up to the sky, her sight was met by a most bizarre structure, a huge ice umbrella completely surrounding the island. She had never seen anything like it. As her chain of thought went to how on Earth this giant structure came to be, a biting wind cut through her. Ultear shivered, she was not dressed in the most appropriate clothing for this kind of climate, she had been travelling for a very long time, her provisions and resources were low and she needed somewhere she could keep warm and rest.

Ultear scanned the immediate perimeter for shelter, only to realise that she was surrounded by steep mountains, sheets of thick ice and the occasional dead tree that looked like ink blots on a white page. She knew that she couldn’t attempt to scour the area in her current state. She needed to build a camp. Ultear’s knowledge of camp building was basic, she knew there was no way to pitch a tent given the thick solid ice underfoot. As Ultear pondered her conundrum, she remembered a basic earth technique that her and Meredy had been taught during their time together serving under Precht. Yes this could work. She had to act fast given the climate and with that, Ultear formed the snake handseal and slammed her hands to the frozen ground. A portal opened above and through it dropped a hollow boar shaped lid that landed just a short distance away from Ultear.

(Doton: Otoshibuta) - Earth Release: Dropping Lid
Type: Offensive
Rank: B
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description: After doing the Snake handseal and slamming his hands on the ground, he user creates a portal above the target, high in the sky from which a giant, boar-shaped, earthen lid drops and falls on the target, trapping it underneath. The lid can be hollow or solid, depending on if the user wants to deal damage to the enemy or not. Because of its size, to safely used, the lid has to be created at least mid range from the user otherwise he will also be caught inside. The biggest lid can dwarf a boss summon like Nagato's Dog or Gamabunta.

Looking at the lid Ultear had created, though only of a medium size, approximately 5 meters in diameter, it sat in stark contrast to the surrounding white landscape. This wouldn’t do, she needed to camouflage it. Having no suitable packed items at her disposal to accomplish this, Ultear went about using the resources of the land. Ultear created a large surge of wind that with it picked up the loose snow from the surface of the thick ice. The large surge of wind hit the lid that stood in front of her covering it with snow. From a reasonable distance the lid would no longer be visible to the naked eye. Ultear did not want her camp to stand out, fearing that if it did, she would become a target to any enemy ninja in the surrounding area looking for food and shelter of their own.

(Fūton: Boufuu oonami no Jutsu ) - Wind Release: Gale Surge Technique
Type: Offensive
Rank: B
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description: The user will create a large surge of wind that is capable of pushing a target back and dealing some small cuts to them. The wind technique is also strong enough to push back a large summoning creature.

Ultear looked around as her stomach growled in a hungry protest. This reminded her that not only did she need to eat, she needed to avoid being eaten by any carnivorous animals that may be in the local vicinity. Ultear couldn’t afford to rest unprotected and didn’t have the energy to expend to go out and search for food. With very few materials on her person Ultear had to rely on her basic ninjutsu skill to fashion some traps. She pulled a Kuni from her thigh high boot with her right hand, as she grabbed her long hair in a fist with her left and in one swift motion, she cut her waist length hair off to her shoulders. This should be enough, she thought to herself as she infused her chakra into the thick bunch of hair that she held in her hand. Ultear paced a 10 meter radius around the lid that she had created sprinkling her hair on the ground as she went her glistening black strands falling to the ground as she kicked a light dusting of snow over them to help to keep them in place. Any animal or being that stood on the hairs would now be trapped and entangled, unable to reach Ultear within her camp site.

(Chakra Kami Wana no Jutsu) - Chakra Hair Trap Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 10
Damage points: N/A
Description: After cutting her hair, the user infuses the strands of hair with her chakra to trap anyone that may step on the hair. Once immobilized, they then become an easy target for another technique.
Note: Can only be used by a Female bio

Using the same Kuni that she had used to cut her hair Ultear approached the lid that she had made for a shelter and carved a deep curved groove in the shape of a door into the surface. Ultear then hit the lid with her elbow using just enough force to crumble the earth within the groove to form a small opening large enough to crouch into.

(Konoha Kaiganshō) - Leaf Rock Destroying Rise
Rank: B
Type: Attack
Range: short - mid
Chakra cost: N/A
Damage points: 40
Description: A taijutsu technique where the user smashes their elbow into their opponent using the other arm as support. It deals a powerful blow to the target and as the name suggests, is even strong enough to destroy rock formations.

With the shelter finally finished with and traps set in the surrounding area, Ultear walked over to a nearby tree breaking off the dead twigs and branches collecting as many as she could carry. She would use the wood to make camp fires at night when the smoke wouldn’t be seen coming from her shelter, she would use the fire to cook with and as a source of warmth when the temperature would surely plummet further.

Ultear crouched into the shelter she had made, setting the wood down she scraped up the snow that was on the ground inside and pushed it towards the door as a sort of draft excluder leaving a small gap for ventilation. It was still day light, so there was no use making a fire right now, the smoke would only attract attention and the thick earth walls were providing enough insulation at the moment for Ultear to be slowly warming up. Ultear lay back against the earth wall and closed her eyes. She would rest for a short while before continuing on her journey.

- Finish a chore using Ninjutsu (D rank)

Ultear opened her eyes to find herself sat in a dimly lit dome, a small amount of light trickling in through a gap at the top of the door. She looked around as she got her bearings remembering the camp site she had built a short time before. It felt like she had slept for days but it had been merely hours. The sun must be setting by now Ultear thought, the light filtering in tinged with orange, it wouldn’t be long until nightfall. Ultear sat up with a start as her stomach made a loud gurgling noise. She hadn’t eaten a thing since she had set foot in Ice Falls. Rolling to her knees she made her way to the snow covered entrance. She pushed the snow away with her hand and exited the shelter into the icy tundra that stretched before her. The sky was awash in fiery oranges and reds, the sun very low on the horizon, she needed food, where would she be able to find food in a place like this she began to wonder. She heard a rustle behind her breaking her chain of thought. She turned quickly to find a rabbit had been caught in the hair trap on the opposite side of the camp.

Ultear disappeared in an instant kicking up snow in the process and emerged right next to the rabbit, she was eager to get to it before it had chance to wriggle itself free. In one swift motion Ultear grabbed the rabbit by the scruff of its neck and twisted its head snapping its neck in the process.
(Shunshin no Jutsu) - Body Flicker Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost:10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique. The ninja will appear and disappear in an instant, allowing them to retreat or attack suddenly. To facilitate the movement, the ninja will often use nearby elements such as mist, sand or leaves to mask their appearance or disappearance.
Note: Cannot be used in battle.
She returned to her shelter laying the rabbit on the floor and collected up a few of the branches and twigs she had gathered earlier placing them in the middle of the room, she only needed a very small fire to cook the rabbit. She had no fire lighting instruments so Ultear would have to resort to her very limited knowledge of Fire release in order to cook her meal. Ultear knelt down focusing her chakra and exhaled blowing a small fire ball from her mouth to attempt to light the wood.
(Katon no Jutsu) - Fire Release Technique
Type: Offensive
Rank: D
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 10
Damage: 20
Description: The user will release a small but powerful flame of fire at their opponent from either their limbs (through movement) or exhaling it. It can produce fire balls or fire streams or simply aid in taijutsu.
The fire didn’t catch. Ultear sat back on her heels puzzling for a moment before she realised her mistake. The wood she had collected, though from a dead tree was still covered in damp bark. She pulled her kunai from the top of her boot and began to whittle the wood removing the bark, when she was done removing the bark she shifted it to one side and attempted to ignite the fire once more. Perhaps a stronger flame this time for good measure, Ultear focused her chakra once more and exhaled a small fire stream at the wood, this time it caught.
(Katon: Shōkasou) - Fire Release: Small Fire Stream
Type: Offensive
Rank: C
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 15
Damage: 30
Description: The user will create a small short flame at the opponent. This flame is capable of making the target collapse due to the heat of the technique. This technique requires no handseals.
Ultear sat back against the wall of the shelter, the heat from the fire felt soothing, she picked the rabbit up from the floor, kunai still in hand she set about skinning it, it didn’t take long, she’d learned how to skin a rabbit as a child. When she had finished and was ready to cook the rabbit Ultear created a wire cage, one of the few materials she did have left was a coil of wire string, she performed the necessary handseals and manipulated the wire into shape, she hung the rabbit inside the cage and stood it over the fire out of reach of the naked flames so as not to burn it.
(Ninpo: Kagonome) – Ninja Art: Wire Cage
Rank: B
Type: Defensive, Supplementary
Range: short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: After performing the needed hand seals the user can manipulate metal strings to form a protective dome. This dome is capable of repelling most basic Taijutsu attacks up to A rank. The user can reshape the wire within the dome, changing it to a binding string with ease, however it is weak to lightning based techniques.
Using a long stick to turn the rabbit occasionally, she sat and waited for her food to cook through. A short while later Ultear picked up the long stick she had previously been using to turn her rabbit with and thrust it between the cage wires to lift the cage up and set it down away from the fire without burning herself. Ultear had always been fond of improvisation, it helped to reduce the laboriousness of a chore such as cooking. After letting the rabbit cool for a few moments she unhooked the rabbit and cut it in half with her Kunai. She wrapped one half in cloth to save for later before she tucked in to the remaining half to curb her hunger.

This post marks my carrying out and completion of the following storyboard element(s):

- Take part in a physical trial (C rank)

Her stomach full Ultear had fallen asleep next to the charred remains of her small fire. She awoke the next morning to a beam of brilliant light shining in through the entrance of her shelter. It was time for Ultear to start exploring this place and find out what trials and tribulations it had in store. Ultear got to her feet rubbing the remnants of sleep from her eyes, but where to start? Ultear crouched through the entrance emerging outside in the fresh morning sun. No bitter wind today, she had a good feeling about the weather.

Ultear looked around her, the entire area was surrounded with steep, rocky, mountains, and thick sheets of ice and snow. She began to cross the arctic tundra heading towards the closest mountain, a challenged presented in itself due to the deep snow drifts and slick ice patches. Ultear’s aim was to make it up the mountain, from this point she would be able to get a comprehensive view of the surrounding area and from here she would be able to decide on a direction. This would be her starting point.

Crossing the tundra took longer than expected, the muscles in her legs already burning after wading through the deep snow, but Ultear had now reached the base of the nearest mountain. She began trudging up the icy slopes, her path angled to avoid the steep cliff faces that dotted the mountain side, the walk was at a steady incline for now, but again in the ankle deep snow, walking in it’s self was difficult. As she progressed the wind was beginning to pick up, a biting breeze snapping at her exposed skin. The once steady incline now a steep frozen slope, if she lost her footing once she’d be lost to the steep cliffs directly below her. Ultear knew it was only going to get harder and she was now beginning to think the weather may not be in her favour after all.

Ultear had gotten into a rhythm, one foot then the next, distributing her weight centrally and evenly so as to keep her footing on the slippery ice, she was progressing steadily, Ultear was just getting to grips with the motion, when a huge gale slammed into her from behind shifting her weight over her front leg. She slipped. Falling forward, Ultear began to slide down the slope at a rapid pace on her front, if she kept going she’d fall straight off of the precipice and surely meet her demise, desperate and panicking, Ultear grabbed the kunai she carried in the top of her boot and jammed it into the ice like a makeshift pickaxe, the kunai tore through the ice breaking out large chunks in the process, her momentum began slowing, but it wasn’t going to be enough, the speed she had picked up was too great, Ultear was flung from the face of the mountain over the edge of the cliff.

Flying into the air, the ground hundreds of feet below, the pure white plain that stretched out for miles beneath her, littered with mountains and crags, was this how she would meet her end she thought to herself. The thought instilled a calmness inside her for some strange reason, to die like this, would that be so bad? The tranquility she felt inside at the prospect, flooded through her whole body causing moment of clarity to slice through her mind, she now knew what to do. Ultear focused her wind chakra and exhaled a stream from her mouth directly in front of her, Ultears projectile body almost halted midair before being propelled backwards towards the cliff face, she thrust her kunai into the rocky face as she was hurled into it so as not to fall, she slid down the wall a short distance before finally grinding to a halt. Dangling from her kunai gripped tightly by her right hand Ultear put her left hand to the cold stone and out jutted a small ledge beneath her feet, she dropped the few inches to the ledge below her, she was shaking with adrenaline but she knew she couldn't stay there, she had to make it back to the top of the cliff at least

(Fūton: Kaze Ogawa no Jutsu) - Wind Release: Wind Stream Technique
Type: Supplementary
Rank: D
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 10
Damage: N/A
Description: This technique allows the user to change direction in mid-air at high speeds by simply blowing wind out their mouth. The user can also use this technique by blowing it at the ground and causing a dust cloud to rise, concealing the users location and movement.

(Doton no Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique
Type: Supplementary/Offensive/Defensive
Rank: D
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 10
Damage: 20
Descripton: Creates small pillars of earth, small tools, and small shields of earth

Ultear reached up to the kunai still jutting out of the wall with both hands and lifted her self up off of the ledge. She focused her chakra into the soles of her feet, and began to scale the sheer rock face, the excess adrenaline was making focusing her chakra especially difficult, this was easily one of her toughest trials yet, her every limb hurt, every muscle pulled, her body freezing in the arctic cold, her mind screaming at her to stop, but Ultear ploughed on. she couldn't stop now, not when she'd come this far.

(Ki Nobori no Shugyō) - Tree Climbing Practice
Type: Supplementary
Rank: E
Range: Short
Chakra: 5
Damage: N/A
Description: This is a training method used to gain the basic skills of chakra control. This training involves focusing a fixed amount of chakra to the bottom of one's feet, and using that to climb a tree without using one's hands. If the stream of chakra is too weak, the user will lose their footing on the tree and fall off. If it is too strong, the user will be pushed away from the tree, causing the bark of the tree to break around the point of contact and the user to fall. This technique becomes second nature to shinobi with more practice.

Ultear finally reached the top of the cliff face and with it near enough the top of the mountain. She stepped up on to the slope of the mountain, breathless and exhausted, she turned around. Before her eyes, the most beautiful site she'd ever witnessed, though the trail she had faced to get here had tested the very limits of her physical strength, this was one experience Ultear would carry with her for the rest of her life. She sat down in the snow and lent back on her hands. She would sit for a little while, and watch the world go by as she catches her breath before continuing on her journey.

- Defend yourself from wild beasts (C rank)

Ultear had sat admiring the view for a short while, the wind was calm and the sky clear, she had found her direction. In the distance stood what looked to be a castle, though the state of the castle and wether it was inhabited or not, could not be determined from this distance, it was as good a place as any to start exploring.

Ultear sat forward and reached down over the cliff edge, her left hand lightly touching the stone precipice, she focused her chakra and formed a small smooth curved stone shield.
(Doton no Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique
Type: Supplementary/Offensive/Defensive
Rank: D
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 10
Damage: 20
Descripton: Creates small pillars of earth, small tools, and small shields of earth
Standing up Ultear looked down at the snow covered mountain side. Perhaps a little fun, she thought to herself with a smile. She propelled herself forward two steps before jumping high into the air, in one fluid motion, she bought her knees to her chest, tucking the small disk of stone underneath her feet, she landed on the snow and rocketed down the side of the mountain, the stone shield acting as a makeshift snowboard, the feeling was exhilarating. It took mere minutes to reach the foot of the mountain, a stark contrast to the arduous ascent. Ultear got to the bottom and skidded along the ice, it was a good few meters before she finally started slowing but she eventually came to a halt and dismounted the earth disc.

The sun was setting and Ultear was once again at the mercy of hunger, remembering the rabbit she had tucked away in her bag she took it out and unwrapped it, cold meat is better than no meat she thought, and at this point she wasn’t fussy, anything would do to curb the hunger. With a heading and destination Ultear began the trek to the castle.

Eating as she walked so as to save herself some time before nightfall she heard a faint whine to her left. Ultear scanned the immediate vicinity, not a creature in site, how strange she thought, but she continued on, she had only walked a few paces further when she was disturbed by yet another sound, this time a low growl. Ultear stopped dead, she knew that sound, that was the growl of a wolf. She spun around, her eyes frantically searching for the sign of wolves, there was nothing in sight, how could this be? Ultear knew wolves never travelled alone, they always hunted in packs, this wasn’t good. Just as the graveness of the situation hit her, Ultear noticed a pair of huge brown eyes in her peripheral vision, she spun to her right and was greeted by a giant Arctic Wolf. Huge and fierce the beast glared at her, lifting its giant head it released a deafening howl that ripped through the area. Within seconds Ultear was surrounded, no matter where she looked, wolves were appearing left, right and centre. Had their fur not blended so efficiently with the snow, perhaps she’d have noticed them earlier.

The wolves stalked closer, all teeth and snarls, even the smallest one among them dwarfed her in size and she’d lost her only weapon when climbing the mountain. What was she to do. The wolf directly in front of her picked up its pace as it approached her to gain her attention, this was a tactic used by pack animals to distract their target while other members of the pack snuck in for the kill. Very much aware of this fact Ultear was ready for the sneak attack, from the left it came, she spun around and jumped into the air releasing a ball of wind from her mouth at the ground propelling her upwards and over the attacking animal.
(Fūton: Gōkūhō) - Wind Release: Great Vacuum Cannon
Type: Offensive
Rank: C
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 15
Damage: 30
Description: The users gathers his Fuuton chakra into the lungs to blow out a sphere of air at his target that can blow backwards the opponent and small objects around him.
A second wolf jumped into the air to catch her as she fell, but Ultear was quick to react and blew a stream of wind from her mouth instantly changing her trajectory to avoid the jaws of the approaching predator. She couldn’t dodge forever.
Ultear landed back on the ground, she was still surrounded, she would never be able to outrun a pack of hungry wolves, there was no escaping this, she had to fight. Ideally she would have used an Earth jutsu that covered a large area that would take them all out in one move, but that would be useless right now given the thick sheet of ice covering the ground, she had to think quick, her jutsu knowledge was limited, she needed to improvise, wild animals had an affliction to fire, their natural instincts would warn them against it no matter what. That was it, with her mind set, Ultear began her assault, she focused her chakra spun on her heel and weaved four handseals in quick succession, she expelled a flammable gas from her mouth all around her, with the immediate area covered, she once again jumped into the air and exhaled a ball of wind at the ground directly below her, this propelled her above the flammable gas while helping to spread the gas out further around the area.
(Katon: Kasumi Enbu no Jutsu) - Fire Release: Mist Blaze Dance Technique
Type: Supplementary/Offensive
Rank: D
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 10

Rank: C
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 15
Damage: 30
Description: The users gathers his Fuuton chakra into the lungs to blow out a sphere of air at his target that can blow backwards the opponent and small objects around him.
As Ultear travelled upwards she inhaled and expelled a single ball of bright fire down into the gas, it ignited immediately, spreading out at an unbelievably rapid pace like a raging flaming carpet. All of the wolves within short to mid range of her were engulfed in the flames, the wolves at long range saw the fire and sensing the imminent danger, fled toward the closest mountain. Ultear began to fall back to the ground, as she repeated her move from earlier expelling a stream of wind from her mouth enabling her to manoeuvre and avoid being caught in the remnants of the fire.

She landed gently, a short way away from the burning carcasses that now littered the area. With the majority of the wolves dead, and the remaining wolves escaping to safety her troubles were over, but for long would that last?

Gandalf had narrowly escaped death as he sat, drenched on the shores of the lake within the mountain but now he had no idea where he was. Which direction to go or anything about the place. He would have to explore this place to find his way out while trying to go unnoticed. He looked around trying to figure out which way to go but something caught his eye, a flame lit a tunnel off in the distance. Now, should he head in that direction thinking he could find a way out or would it lead him into more danger? With such little options he decided this was his best bet. With his staff lit once more he made his way over to where the tunnel was, though instead of heading directly towards the tunnel he made his way to the wall near it, quietly, before looking around. It was clear, but he couldn't see the source of light.

He drew his sword and made his way slowly into the tunnel. As he walked it seemed to have an upward incline, maybe this could be his way out. After several minutes he could see the opening at the end of the tunnel, he slowed now and crept towards it looking beyond. It was an open room lit by torches with 5 tunnels leading off in other directions. The walls were marked, but with a form of language Gandalf did not recognise. He looked around, trying to decipher at least one so he could try and identify the direction he should go.

A growl came from behind him with running steps, he spun just in time to see the figure launch at him through the air, he swung his staff around connecting with the figure knocking it away, rolling along the ground but the force of it threw him off balance. He tried to push himself up as the figure to his side lunged again. His instincts too control as his sword thrust forward straight through it, halting it in his path. As it stopped Gandalf now got a good look at the figure. It's skin pale from the lack of sunlight. It's teeth sharp as razors. It's posture hunched over. It's skin mauled and dirty. He knew exactly what this was. An Orc. A clan that he thought was just a myth that had taken to the depths of the world, fed even on human flesh and didn't care for life at all, they just wanted dominion over all life.

It hit Gandalf then, he knew where he was. And it wasn't good. The dots began to connect. He'd been in Kazad Dum. But he knew the other name for it, Moria. The home to the orcs. This wasn't good. He needed to know more about this place, but at the same time he couldn't risk taking on hordes of orcs. He'd heard tales of Moria but his curiosity was getting the best of him now. He looked around at the tunnels once more and noticed a marking above each door. How had he not noticed. There were Runes. The language of the Dwarves. These tunnels were carved by the ancient mining race of Dwarves, but over run by the orcs it seems. The runes were numbers, from 1-6, he decided to go with 1.

Making his way up, he'd been going for a few minutes before he could hear a screech and shouts behind him from the direction he had come from. The body of the orc he'd slain had been found. He needed to move. He broke out into a sprint towards the end of the tunnel which opened out into the likes of which he'd never seen. The sight before him left him stunned with amazement. It was as though the inside of the mountain had been build by the greatest craftsmen to have ever lived. If he hadn't of seen it he wouldn't believe it. Before him opened up into a massive room over 50m high. Though what was truly amazing about this wasn't the fact the roof of this room was held up, but the way it had been executed. Pillars of rock weren't erected in here, the room was carved out of the rock, leaving the mountain to hold itself up. They had literally carved this kingdom out of the stone itself, forging it to perfection.

You must be registered for see images

He walked over to the base of one of the pillars, slowly touching the rock, moving his hand across it. He couldn't even tell how old the work was, it was smooth, flawless, with no signs of wear or tear. He was lost in thought and awe, noticing the runes once more carved through the rock face that formed the pillars, the ancient language of the dwarves. He could just make out a few notes from it, reading them out loud.

"Durin drove the orcs into the depths of the world...."

"The demon slumbers..."

"In the third age, Dain Iron foot led the charge...."

"Balin crowned lord of Kazad dum"

This was the only flaw in the rock that Gandalf noticed. It was a scratch made by a blade, and not a sharp one at that, but he couldn't seem to understand why. Before he could connect the dots, his answer came as an arrow hit the rock beside him as screeches filled the room. A horde of orcs that had found the one he'd slain now came rushing through the room, arrows and swords ready. He ducked behind the pillar before the next volley came. He listened until he heard them bounce off the rock or pass by before breaking into a sprint once more. Heading towards the end of the room. The screeches rang through the giant room. It was deafening. They were gaining on him, he couldn't afford to fight them all. Holding up his staff he swung at one of the pillars releasing a blast of chakra, breaking it, using his powers to control the falling rock behind him to create a barricade to slow them down.

( Tengoku Seigyo no Metsuboshi ) - Heavenly Control of Orion's Belt
Type: Offensive
Rank: A
Range: Short - Long
Chakra cost: 30 (-15 per turn)
Damage points: 60
Description: Using their manipulation of gravitational forces, the user is able to gather nearby debris present in the battlefield (anything will do as long as its tangible), concentrate them into small "clumps" and begin floating them around in mid air, short range around themselves, creating a defensive belt of debris. The user can then use these debris as projectiles to attack the enemy by commanding them thorugh hand gestures and throwing them at the target.
Note: Can only be used by Rinnegan biographies with the (Tendō) - Deva Path active.
Note: Depending on the characteristics of the debris, the technique can be used to defend to up to A-Rank techniques and can be regenerated by using the technique again to add more debris, returning it to its original strength.

Bursting out the room he looked left and right, but wasn't sure which way to go. Now he truly had to think. The dwarves had had a way with how they built there kingdoms. The great halls were for meeting. From there you either went .... what was it... right for rest.... left for leaving... that was it! Sprinting left as an arrow hit the wall behind him he followed the tunnel winding, he could feel the incline, he was heading towards the surface. The air was becoming lighter. He was near a way out, if only it was that easy. The solid stone doors wouldn't push open, no matter how hard he tried. He shone his light around looking for any form of handle or a way to get them open but to no avail, just more runes. But this time it wasn't dwarvish. Was it even runes. He wasn't sure. Was it the language of the orcs? No wait, it was too elegant. But that wasn't in the tradition of the ancient race. The cries and screams of the horde of orcs near by grew louder he was out of time. He wouldn't be able to fight that many. None had seen so many in one place since the time of the....

"Elves"

He focused once more reading the text, making sense of it now, the language of the noldor. "Speak friend and exit".... What they hell could that mean, Noldorians and Dwarves hated each other it was a well known fact, unless. He thought for a long moment trying to get the word to come to his head. Then speaking aloud he said the word for "Noldor" in the dwarven language. The doors began to open. The orcs were 10m behind him. He squeezed through as they began to open and sprinted out. He looked over to see if they reached the doors but then slid to a a halt. The screeched and hissed... the sunlight they hated it. His saving grace. That's one sight he would love to know more about.... if only it wasn't for those orcs.

- Explore a dangerous site (B rank)

Ultear finally made it to the site of the castle, hiding behind a nearby boulder, she took in her surroundings. The castle was a huge impending structure and looked as though it had been abandoned a long time ago. The castle was enormous and built entirely of carved stone, there was a definite sense of grandeur emanating from it, perhaps it was once home to royalty or something of similar elk she wondered. Ultear couldn’t help but notice there was something a little off about it though and the longer she looked at it, the more odd features came to light. The castle was completely encased in ice with numerous stalactites of ice, bizarrely though, instead of the usual vertical orientation a stalactite would develop, each and every one had formed horizontally, what was more, the ice had an unnatural feel to it, it was crystal clear with an almost blue tinge to it, it looked as though a massive wave of water had crashed into the castle from the side and instantly frozen upon contact, This couldn’t possibly be a natural phenomenon.

Ultear grabbed a small roll of thin cloth that she had tucked away in the front of her body suit, she unfolded it once before flocking the material out in front of her as it unrolled into a cloak, useless for keeping warm with, but predesigned to be infused with chakra enabling her to camouflage with almost any environment, she shrouded herself with the cloak and slowly approached the castle, though it looked completely abandoned, Ultear couldn’t be sure and was determined to conceal her presence for as long as possible.
(Kakuremino No Jutsu) - Magic Cloak Of Invisibility Technique
Type: Supplementary
Rank: E
Range: Short
Chakra: 5
Damage: N/A
Description: The user will pull out a cloak that is pre designed for their use. Then, by using Ninjutsu, they make the cloth blend into the background. Skilled ninja can see through this jutsu.
She made her way up the frozen steps that led to the castle entrance, the ice had formed so perfectly it looked almost like glass, she reached the entrance, if there had been doors there before they were long gone now, be it to damage or decay. She stepped inside the castle into a short sheltered walkway and scanned to her left and right quickly before continuing, as she came to the end, the walkway opened up into a huge open courtyard riddled with the same bizarre stalactites that were outside too, they didn’t look particularly sturdy given their sheer size and orientation, one loud noise could easily vibrate through the ice breaking its fragile crystalline structure causing the stalactites to snap and rain down, impaling her in the process. Definitely not something Ultear wanted to happen, she would have to tread carefully. She walked out into the open courtyard and looked around her, there were several entrances, they all most likely led to the various wings and sectors of the castle and its grounds, but there was one in particular that caught her eye. A massive golden archway atop a small set of stone steps positioned directly opposite the main gate in which she had entered, it was engraved with a multitude of foreign symbols, and had an intricate swirling design that ran along the edges, Ultear had never seen a structure as breathtaking as this, she approached the archway to get a better look, it was even more beautiful up close, she lifted her hand and using a single index finger traced over the icy cold surface of the metal, suddenly a cracking sound came from behind behind her as though somebody had stepped on a fallen twig. Ultear spun on her heel, but the courtyard was desolate, not a single creature in site, and no twigs to be stepped on either, odd she thought, but shrugging the sound off Ultear turned back to the archway, she noticed on the left hand side of the archway were three deeply gouged scratches what beast could have caused these? This was her starting point.

Ultear entered through the ornate archway into a short dark corridor that had stone steps leading deep underground. The light filtering in from the entrance was lost almost immediately down the long steep steps that stretched out in front of her, on the wall to her right sat an unlit torch within a sconce, strangely, the torch looked as though it had never been lit, the cloth that wrapped the end still intact showing no signs of burning or use what so ever. Ultear reached out for the torch, grasped it firmly and lifted it from its holder, at that exact moment there was a loud, resounding bang that came from deep down within the castle, unbeknownst to Ultear, in lifting the torch from the sconce, she had triggered a time old booby trap deep below. The tremendous bang echoed up the stairway and out into the courtyard, panicked Ultear looked around for some clue as to the source of the noise but was cut short as she heard a faint hissing sound, confused and disoriented by the situation that was unfolding Ultear took a few steps back towards the entrance as a deafening rumbling noise came from above, she turned to see a huge stone slab closing over the archway cutting off her exit. The hissing noise got louder and with it came the faint smell of rotting eggs. Ultear dropped the torch to the floor and grabbed for the edge of her cloak with her right hand hand bringing it up to cover her mouth and nose holding her breath instinctively, hydrogen sulphide, one breath would inevitably spell death for Ultear and she was trapped within the corridor, she had to escape, going down the stairs would be suicide, the concentration of the gas would be higher as she went lower due to hydrogen sulphide being heavier than air, she scoured the walls with her left hand in the pitch black darkness in an attempt to find a button, a lever, anything, that could open the door and lead to her escape, nothing, just stone, there was no way out and she was running out of time, she focused as much chakra as she could into her left arm and slammed her elbow into the stone slab that blocked her exit shattering it into multiple pieces, she sprinted through the archway down the steps and out into the middle of the courtyard.
(Konoha Kaiganshō) - Leaf Rock Destroying Rise
Rank: B
Type: Attack
Range: short - mid
Chakra cost: N/A
Damage points: 40
Description: A taijutsu technique where the user smashes their elbow into their opponent using the other arm as support. It deals a powerful blow to the target and as the name suggests, is even strong enough to destroy rock formations.
Ultear sucked in a deep, ragged, breath, she gasped for air, but she wasn’t safe yet, the loud reverberating noise from the booby trap had disturbed the ice stalactites over head causing cracks within their fragile structure, to compound this, the noise caused when breaking through the stone door had done further damage to the ice and the stalactites were now dangerously unstable. Ultear clutched at her throat and slapped her hand over her mouth in vein as she hacked and spluttered to try to stifle the sound, her throat and lungs felt as though they where burning with her every breath. Her echoing cough was the straw that broke the camels back, a long creaking sound, followed by a sharp snap and then a chorus to the tune of breaking glass, like one hundred mirrors being smashed on the floor. Ultear looked up, her vision was blurred, but she could just about make out the catastrophe that was unfolding overhead, huge spears of ice, breaking and falling, crashing into one another and cascading down towards her, an unstoppable cave-in of icy spikes, threatened to skewer her like a human pin cushion. Ultear, her eyes filled with tears and her vision blurred, relied on a most basic ninjitsu technique to get her self out of danger, she motioned to step forward as her body looked to almost vanish and reappear on the other side of the courtyard undercover.
Simple but effective, with less than a second to spare, she made it under cover as the ice crashed down to the ground behind her. She pressed her now burning face against the icy wall and closed her eyes as she sucked in the cold arctic air. So far her exploration of this dangerous site had not gone the way she had intended. After a few moments of catching her breath, Ultear rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand. At least the courtyard would be now safe to walk through and she’d be damned if she was to leave this place without discovering what was through that golden archway, what could a trap like that be protecting?

Ultear crossed the courtyard heading back to the golden archway, treading carefully and looking around she noticed more of the deep gouges that she’d first found on the archway, they littered the walls of the courtyard, everywhere she looked, as far up as the walls went, she hadn’t noticed them before as she was distracted by the daunting ice stalactites, but now, the place looked as though it had been ravaged by some kind of rampaging beast, she took the steps beneath the archway two at a time to the top and snatched up the torch she had dropped during her escape from just inside, eager to get to the bottom of what exactly had happened here she focused her chakra and released a stream of fire from the tip of her index finger to light the torch, this time, she wanted to see what she was doing before any traps could spring and surprise her.
(Katon no Jutsu) - Fire Release Technique
Type: Offensive
Rank: D
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 10
Damage: 20
Description: The user will release a small but powerful flame of fire at their opponent from either their limbs (through movement) or exhaling it. It can produce fire balls or fire streams or simply aid in taijutsu.
Knowing that the gas would now be clear thanks to the huge draft created when the the tonnes of suspended ice fell to the ground Ultear began her decent down into the depths of the castle. As she made her way down the stairs Ultear noticed carvings in the wall, as she traveled the carvings seemed to depict a civilisation that appeared to be worshipping some unknown supreme deity, Ultear had never seen this particular depiction of a god before, she neither believed nor disbelieved in the existence of the celestial entities spoken about in ancient legends and religious books and so had never paid a great deal of attention to them, but she was familiar with what the various divine beings looked like. Usually depicted as majestic, inimitably beautiful, creatures that vary from religion to religion, whereas this particular drawing was nothing of the sort. Carved into the stone, being revered by its many subjects, was a tall, lank, twisted looking being with long slender appendages that ended in scythe like claws. The way it had been drawn portrayed that the creature had no face which only added further to its harrowing appearance, it also had a huge set of webbed wings folded behind its back. This was like no god she had ever seen, surely this was some kind of demon. As Ultear travelled further down the stone steps, the carvings in the walls became darker and darker, depictions of sacrificial rituals, people being enslaved with collars around their necks attached to chains, women crying and mourning as their children were carried away. A city burning with a lone castle in the centre untouched by the flames. Finally as she reached the foot of the long stairway she found the final image, it was roughly carved, directly into the stone door that stood at the bottom of the steps, the twisted deity, it’s wings spread wide pierced with chains through the webbing, that fastened it to the floor, it stood atop what appeared to be a mountain of bodies, and coin shapes objects. The image sent a shiver down Ultear’s spine, not wanting to look upon the creature any longer she put her hand to the door and applied gentle pressure. To her surprise the door swung open with ease. She stepped through the door and into a huge rectangular room. At the far end of the room atop a short set of steps was what looked to be a stone throne, behind the throne stood a large alter, Ultear made her way down the room cautiously. Keeping her eyes open for trip switches and pressure plates she walked lightly, as she traveled she passed multiple dark stone columns, they stretched all the way from the floor to the ceiling, such craftsmanship she remarked as each one was completely identical to the last. The ceiling of this room was impossibly high stretching on and on into darkness, she finally reached the throne, dark stone adorned with bones of some description. What in this world would have wanted to sit atop this monstrosity! She looked up from the chilling chair, just being near it was making her feel uneasy, moving around the throne towards the alter she noticed that it has been crafted similarly to the stone columns that lined the isle that ran the length of the room, it has been intricately carved by a skilled craftsman, ornate patterns ran all over the dark smooth stone, and smooth it was, it almost shone as it had been polished to such a great extent. Directly in the centre of the alter sat a small black box. No keyhole, nor hinge just a simple lid sat on top of it, she instinctively reached out her left arm and ran her fingers over the smooth lid. It was surprisingly warm, Ultear puzzled as she traced the decorative pattern that covered the lid, Ultear deliberated for a moment before she gripped the lid in her left hand and lifted it from the box, she flinched at the sound of the lid jerking free expecting some kind of trap to ensnare her, the noise echoed through the room but soon reverted back to utter silence, nothing happened, she carefully lent forward to peer into the box, inside sat a metallic coin shaped item, roughly about the size of her palm. It was nothing particularly extravagant, though it was uniquely decorated with a ceremonial looking trident. She carefully lifted the coin from the box to examine it closer it was quite hot to the touch for some reason, as she turned the coin over in her fingers she realised she had seen this coin before, depicted in the carvings that’s decorated the walls of the stairway that had led down into the depths of the castle. The coin was shown being offered to the twisted deity by its subjects, it was also amongst the heap of bodies depicted in the last image, what could it be she wondered. Her chain of thought was cut off by a long gurgling hiss. She turned around and looked up into the darkness holding the torch as high as she could reach, there was movement above her, a slow but sure movement, something was coming.

- Fight an enemy much stronger than yourself (S Rank)

Something was lurking in the darkness above her, Ultear strained her eyes in an attempt to see what was it was, it moved slowly, it was getting closer, an icy chill ran down Ultears back, paralysed by fear she watched as a huge black twisted creature scaled slowly down the wall and emerged from the darkness. Strength radiated from it’s very being, as it stalked almost silently given away only by the clinking noise of metal chains that hung from its body. Ultear would never have known the beast was coming had it not been for the hiss and the rattle of its shackles.

It was around ten meters from the ground above the door at the far end of the room. Relinquishing it’s hold on the wall it dropped to the ground in a crumpled heap with a deep thud and a clatter as the thick heavy chains hit the ground along with it. It lay there still, completely unmoving, not even a sign of breath. Was it dead? Ultear still frozen in fear looked around the room for an exit but the only way out was now cut off by the monster. She gripped the torch with both hands as she held it out in front of her almost defensively, her entire body quaking, she took a hesitant step forward towards the creature, it didn’t move, perhaps it really was dead? She pressed forward slowly, her every step almost silent as she crept along, her eyes focused on the monster, looking for any sign of movement. As she approached to within only a few meters she paused as she noticed the beast was pierced with dozens of metal rods that connected to the chains, it looked like chakra metal at first glance. The metal piercings were huge, thick and heavy-looking and the attached chains trailed off along the edge of the room into the darkness. Was this beast trapped in here? She was only a pace or two away from the motionless creature, its body completely covered the doorway, there was no way to get around it, she let go of the torch with her left hand and stretched it out towards the lifeless lump, vibrating with adrenaline and fear her trembling hand was a mere inch away from the creatures flesh when she was suddenly struck from the right, a ferocious impact straight to her ribs sent her hurtling across the room and straight into a nearby stone pillar, she hit the floor with a loud thud, her vision fluctuating between focused and unfocused, her ears were ringing with the impact, she crawled to her knees as she cried out, the wind knocked out of her, she tried to drag in a breath but was met only with sharp agonising pain that radiated across her chest, the impact must have broken her ribs, using the column for support she tried to climb to her feet as a deafening screech echoed around the room, the warped creature stood, unwrapping its long limbs and stretching out its powerful whip like tail. So that’s what had hit her. The pure power from that single blow had sent Ultear flying, how had she not seen the tail? As she was distracted reaching out to touch the beast she hadn’t seen it silently lifting its tail around to her right. The motion a perfect blend of stealth and power, she was no match for this, but what could she do, the towering monster blocked her only escape.

Ultear steadied herself against the column with her right hand, she needed time to think, the pain in her chest was consuming, but the beast was not going to give her a chance to recover. The creature launched itself at her like a torpedo head first, it had barely moved and yet its pure power had propelled it directly for her in an instant, with no time to react Ultear took the spear head on as both her and the creature crashed through the column and straight into the stone wall behind her. The creature had landed only a pace away from her, she had to get away from it, the door was now uncovered, as the monster got to its feet following the impact Ultear made a B line for the exit, she ran as fast as her injuries allowed her, limping as the monsters last attack had damaged her leg on impact, she could feel the severe bruising almost instantly and sharp pains shot down her shin with every step. It was no use, the monster was faster, with almost blinding speed its tail flicked out and swept her legs from underneath her, she crashed to the ground landing on her hip as she screamed in pain, she couldn’t outrun this demon. She rolled onto her back, but the monster had crossed the gap between them in a flash, towering over her it raised its arms above its head, it was about to bring down its full force directly on top of her, a hit like this would surely kill her, Ultear instinctively focused her chakra and switched her body with a lump of nearby rubble from the broken column narrowly avoiding the attack.
(Kawarimi no Jutsu) - Change of Body Stance Technique
Type: Supplementary
Rank: E
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 5
Damage: N/A
Description: Kawarimi no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique. When in danger the ninja will quickly substitute themselves with another nearby object. This can be a block of wood or even another person. This allows the ninja to quickly flee and hide while the original object takes the brunt of their opponents attack. The technique is a mix between high speed movement and the use of the transformation technique but has its limits.
The ground crumbled beneath the beasts blow, Ultear scrambled to her feet, what could she do, no weapons, the torch she once held now lying on the floor out of reach, the only source of light in the room, the monster relentless in its pursuit turned and closed the gap between them almost instantly, swiping at her with its claws from the left, Ultear tried to avoid the attack by punching a gust of wind from her fist propelling herself further left attempting fain some distance putting herself out of reach of the demons scythe-like claws, but it wasn’t enough as the beasts claws caught her and sliced three deep gouges into the top of her arm. She couldn’t keep this up, she had to formulate a plan.
(Fūton: Senpūken) - Wind Style: Hurricane Fist
Type: Offensive
Rank: B
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description: The user delievers a punch that releases a giant, adaptable whirlwind.
The beast continued its onslaught, swipe after swipe it came at her with its huge claws left, right, left, right, Ultear dodged using earth pillars that she caused to erupt from the ground under her feet that propelled her back and forth to evade the barrage.
(Doton no Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique
Type: Supplementary/Offensive/Defensive
Rank: D
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 10
Damage: 20
Descripton: Creates small pillars of earth, small tools, and small shields of earth
She needed only a second to come up with something, if she could halt the beast for just a moment, maybe it would be enough. She dodged once more to the left to avoid the left handed swipe but the beasts attack was a feint, caught out by the creatures immeasurable speed and lightning quick reflexes, as Ultear dodged, the monster followed up immediately with a tremendous right hook hitting her square in the back slamming her into the ground face first, she stood no chance, the speed and the impact were amplified as she flew directly into it the beasts fist, skating along the ground tumbling and rolling until she clashed with the far wall. Ultear coughed uncontrollably, unable to catch her breath. She had been severely winded, and the pain in her neck was debilitating, most likely whiplash from the impact. She rolled onto her front clumsily, dragging herself to her hands and knees as she gurgled and spluttered, coughing blood that spattered all over the floor, the unmistakable taste of iron in her mouth but she still tried to stand, she had to, barely to her feet still hunched over in pain, there was no reprieve, the beast reached out grabbing a nearby column effortlessly smashing it to pieces in its hand, in one fluid motion it hurled the large chunk of debris it held straight at Ultear, she tried to side step but her legs gave way, she tripped, fell and rolled to the right narrowly avoiding being crushed by the large chunk of stone, though she aggravated her injuries in the process, she wasn’t dead, yet.

Once again she attempted to get up from the floor, her body was violently shaking, her vision fading in and out of focus, one eye was pinned shut with swelling after her face had slammed into ground following the beasts punch, she could barely see in the dark as it was and these injuries were only exacerbating that fact, but they were the least of her worries right now, the beast was rampaging towards her yet again, she’d never seen such raw power and speed, coupled with malicious intent this creature threatens to be the end of her. She willed her body to move, pleaded with herself to find the strength to get out of the way, but she couldn’t. The beast spun a quarter turn to its left and swung its huge tail in a crescent, the tip catching Ultear’s body in the motion, she was flung violently through the air crashing into the stone alter at the far end of the room hitting the back of her head in the process, everything went black.

Ultear opened her eyes some time later, to the sound of crashing footsteps and an ungodly twisted screech that erupted from the demon as it rampaged around the room. The room felt as thought it was spinning, she could feel blood trickling down the back of her neck warm and fast, she reached her hand up to her wound instinctively as she slowly got to her feet, wincing in pain, she supported her body weight on the alter behind her. How had the beast not killed her while she had been unconscious? Perhaps it couldn’t see her? She was stood in almost complete darkness, the light emitted from the torch at the opposite end of the room was almost blocked out completely by the demons massive body, occasionally flickering through the gaps between its limbs as it moved. She could barely see a thing, let alone the direction the demon was heading in, she shifted her body weight carefully into a defensive stance this was it, Ultear closed her eyes bracing for the final impact, awaiting her imminent end, she squeezed her eyes shut tighter and then suddenly the room was silent.

Was she dead she wondered? Surely she can’t be she thought, she was consciously thinking for a start and that pain! It radiated throughout her entire body, something was strange. Ultear opened her eyes hesitantly wondering what sight she would be greeted with. The chaotic rampage of the demon had come to an abrupt stop, it stood in the centre of the long room, Ultear strained her eyes and could just make out what was unfolding in front of her, the creature was swinging it’s whole upper body from left to right as if trying to look for something, it was at this moment that she realised that the demon before her was faceless as the light from the torch caught its side profile. Possessing neither eyes nor a snout or nose of any description, with only a slit for a mouth, could this be the deity that was being revered in the carvings outside of this room?

The creature did posses ears however, and disproportionately large ones at that, they looked very similar to those of a bat. As it stood swinging its head left to right and back again, it was in this moment that Ultear realised the creature wasn’t looking for anything it all, it was listening!

Suddenly everything clicked into place, all of the creatures lightning quick reflexes and it’s ability to locate her so quickly in such a dark environment were a reaction to sound. Whether it was her cries of pain, her footsteps as she attempted to escape, the sound of the earth erupting as she dodged left to right to avoid the creatures claws, her coughing and sputtering as she attempted to catch her breath, each and every one of the beasts actions was a reaction to the noise that she was creating! This was the moment Ultear needed. The chronic pain she felt throughout her entire body threatening her consciousness, she lacked the skill and strength to fight and the speed to try to outrun the beast, her only option was to outsmart it. She had proven to be no match for the monsters power but the new information she had uncovered may be the key to her success.

This was her ace card Ultear summoned the rest of her expendable chakra, her final combo, she focused her chakra into the ceiling of the stone room to the far left of the demon, she reached up with both hands as if grabbing at the air above her and then yanked down as if trying to pull down the ceiling, a low rumbling began.
(Doton: Iwayado Kuzushi) - Earth Style: Rock Lodging Destruction
Type: Offensive
Rank: B
Range: Short/Long
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description: The user performs the required hand seals Tiger → Rat → Snake and they then causes a cave-in by destroying the equilibrium that holds the cave together. Just removing a single vital stone throws off the balance of the cave, making it unexpectedly fragile and causing a domino effect that destroys the entire cave. The shinobi from Iwagakure use this technique in their pride tactic, luring several enemies into a cave to kill them all at once.
The beast spun around instinctively towards the source of the noise, small lumps of stone began to fall to the ground, a loud crash, followed by a ground shaking vibration, this was it, the beast shrieked violently and erupted into motion heading for the noise, it’s footsteps adding to the commotion, large chunks of stone were now falling from the ceiling crashing to the ground one after another, she had to move now! Somehow her legs kicked into motion, her body screaming in pain as her every muscle contracted, she was heading straight for the door, large chunks of stone were still falling and the rumbling sounds and vibrations were only getting louder further masking her footsteps, she ran and ran as fast as her broken body could carry her, avoiding the falling debris as she went, the beast now disoriented by the sound of the collapsing ceiling as the cave-in started to spread throughout the rest of the room, she was almost there. Only a few meters stood between her and the exit, with a last burst of strength Ultears body flickered as she tumbled through the great stone door just in time for a huge piece of ceiling to fall crashing to the ground behind her blocking the doorway completely.

She had made it, exhausted, broken and bleeding, Ultear collapsed to her knees at the bottom of the steps and curled over into a crumpled heap, she’d suffered a humiliating defeat, but she had escaped with her life, and for that she was eternally grateful, the last thing she heard was the anguished screeches of the demon as it was trapped within its prison for eternity before unconsciousness consumed her completely.

Prologue to new mission set
[Previous mission build up see here]

An Old Mans Tale

Ultear awoke in a dimly lit ice cavern, a circular area probably around ten metres in diameter. A small fire was burning in the centre of the room and she was lay on a thick folded blanket, where was she? The last thing she remembered, she had escaped death and collapsed, broken and exhausted, but this wasn’t where she had fallen. A voice startled her.

“Finally back with the land of the living are you” the voice mused.

Ultear’s head snapped to the direction of the sound sending a shooting pain down her neck in the process, she winced in pain.

“Steady now, your wounds aren’t completely healed yet” the voice urged.

The voice was soft yet stern, Ultear strained blurry her vision squinting her eyes. On the far side of the cavern sat a cloaked old man holding a book and reading by fire light.

“Where am I? Who are you?” Ultear croaked, her voice weak. How long had she been unconscious?

You are currently lay within a small ice cavern, a short distance away from that abysmal castle where I found you, and I my dear, am Kaito” he spoke matter of factly and smiled as he placed his book down on the floor and looked at her.

“So you found me?” She asked rhetorically. Ultear sat up on her elbows and looked down at her body, she was covered in bandages. “You tended to my wounds?” She questioned.

“My dear, had I not found you and tended to your wounds you would have ultimately met your demise that day” he stated. “I’d ask as to how you acquired such grave injuries, but perhaps that is a story for another day.” He picked his book back up and sat back against the cave wall.

“You saved me... “ Ultear uttered. She stared at the floor lost in thought struggling to recall the events that had led to her current condition, all she could remember was darkness.

“I assume you are a Shinobi?” The old man quizzed her pulling her attention back to the present.

“I am” she answered simply.

“As I thought.” He replied

“What are you doing out here.. Ermm.. Kaito was it?”

“I’m inclined to ask you the same question, but as there is no value to be gained from the answer to such a question I may as well tell you of my dilemma.”
The old man was wise, cutting straight to the quick, he paused before continuing, a look of concern now painted his face. “I’m travelling, I was at one point accompanied by an escort, an entourage of bodyguards if you will.” His face took on a solemn expression. “Alas, I am the only one that remains, you see, this land is exceptionally dangerous, be it the savage beasts that roam it, the rogue ninja that hide here, even the climate is against you, you are never safe, the bodyguards that accompanied me, well, they were out of their depth, ordinary people really, with only basic hand to hand combat training” he smiled as if he was fondly remembering an old friend. “The land I have travelled from is exceptionally poor, it couldn’t afford to pay for a Shinobi escort, so local townspeople came to my aid.” He paused again. “Their hearts were good, the skill they lacked in combat replaced by loyalty and dedication, each one laid their life on the line for the sake of my well being without a second thought... ‘tis the only reason I have made it this far.”He stopped for a moment before continuing; “They did not deserve to meet their end so soon, I feel wholly to blame for this.” His voice cracked, the immense guilt he felt was blatant, twisting his face in pain and anguish at the thought. He took a moment to compose himself before he continued, “I am now stuck at a crossroads, if I am to continue on this journey alone, I’d wager I’d scarcely last a day, the lives of those that stood to protect me lost in vein, conversely, should I attempt to return to my home land, assuming that I could make it that far, I’d never be able to face the families of those lost, how could I explain to them, that I am the lone survivor? That the man who their loved ones stood and fought to protect, is a coward that feared death and ran away, a hypocrite, what kind of man would that make me? I’m ashamed at the mere thought of such an action.” He lowered his head as his conundrum plagued him.

“I found you within that gothic edifice of a castle, we were nearby you see, me and the last two of my protectors, we’d heard a tremendous rumble and thought that we’d check it out, given my expertise in medicine should we find anyone injured maybe I’d be able to help, it was at this point that we were set upon by a pack of monstrous wolves.” Ultear knew of the wolves, she’d encountered them herself on her travels and knew just how terrifying they were. “My protectors jumped between me and the beasts, shouting and screaming, urging me to run, telling me that I had to survive, that they would hold them off at all costs, and like the coward I am, I hightailed it away, straight for the castle, leaving them behind. I don’t know why I left them, it was as though my legs had betrayed my mind, and before I knew it it was all over, I safe while leaving my comrades to die.” He punched the ground in frustration bloodying his knuckles. “That’s when I found you, at the foot of those steps, a crumpled heap, at first site I thought you were dead, I tended to the worst of your injuries right there and then, before waiting for nightfall when I carried your body to this small cavern a little to the east of that dark place, I felt a vile twisted presence within that castle, I didn’t feel comfortable staying there and this place was originally where me and my protectors where heading for. So here we are.” He lifted his arms gesturing at the small cavernous room before dropping them limply back down to his sides. The old man looked defeated, distressed by the tale he’d told and plagued by the loss of his comrades.

Ultear spoke breaking the silence between them. “Why exactly are you making such a dangerous journey in the first place? If you don’t mind me asking.”

“As I mentioned before my dear, I am extremely accomplished in the field of medicine, there is a large community, not far from here, plagued by a highly contagious disease known as Greyscale. It is a skin condition that proves fatal to all afflicted and is contracted through direct skin contact. There have only been three cases known in the world so far where the patient has survived the disease. All three of which were under my care, you see, I believe that I have found a cure for this ailment. I was in the process of travelling to this village with my manuscripts on the subject, I wanted to cure this disease at its root before it continues to spread throughout the land. After all, a man of my age must prove useful for something, my life’s work will have been for nought if it surmounts to saving only three lives. Though three lives is nothing to scoff at, life itself is invaluable, to save only one is a triumph in itself and is worth every effort, but I know my research can save hundreds if not thousands of lives, it is imperative that it is not lost here. Do you understand?”
He turned to her his previously sullen expression replaced with determination.

Ultear thought for a moment. “Perhaps I could assist you?”

“Assist me? How? Why?”
He quizzed.

“As you know, I’m a Shinobi, and the way I see it, I am indebted to you for saving my life, if an escort is what you require and there’s a possibility that hundreds maybe even thousands of lives can be saved, what kind of human being, let alone ninja, would I be to desert you now? After everything you have done for me. I owe my life to you ”

The old mans eyes filled with tears, “you’d really help this old fool achieve his lifetime goal?” He asked, his voice filled with gratitude at her offer. She simply smiled and nodded in response.

This post marks my carrying out and completion of the following storyboard element(s):
  • Guard someone very important (S Rank)
  • Safely transport highly classified information (S Rank)
A few days had passed as Ultear’s injuries continued to heal, but with Kaito’s help she was progressing rapidly, he really was exceptional in the medicinal field. Ultear had been out completing light tasks in preparation for their journey together, catching food, collecting anything she deemed may be useful. Luckily Kaito had many supplies of his own, a surplus in fact, so there was little work to be done before they started on their way. Kaito had lived within these lands for many years and warned Ultear of the many dangers that they may face on the journey. She hadn’t realised just how menacing this place was, she had actually been surprisingly lucky to have made it this far with such little knowledge of the frozen lands. Kaito handed to Ultear a set of papers and a thick, earth coloured robe to wear to help better deal with the deathly cold conditions, not particularly camouflaged given the arctic landscape, but better than freezing to death.

As he handed over the papers he placed his hand on top of Ultear’s, “These papers are best to be kept with you my dear, they contain all of my notes regarding the disease in which I hope to cure, I know that they are safer in your hands, please hold on to them. The information contained within these documents is highly classified, as is the knowledge I contain myself” he tapped his forehead with his other hand as if gesturing to where the other information had been stored. “Both myself and those papers are required to produce the cure for Greyscale, we can’t let anyone else get their hands on it, this information must be used for good and not transformed into a wicked weapon by one that seeks only power! Do you understand?” His face portrayed his immense determination.

Ultear nodded firmly in response tucking the papers away within her body suit and covered herself with the big warm cloak. They began the long, arduous, slog through the deep snow. Visibility was poor given the blizzard-like conditions, the snow was falling heavy and the wind was rapid and biting, neither one could hear the other, they kept their mouths and covered shielded from the cold by their cloaks and didn’t attempt to communicate. They travelled in these conditions for many hours before Kaito finally collapsed to his knees exhausted, helping him from the ground and supporting his weight Ultear part carried the old man to shelter in between some humongous boulders, almost mountainous in size, they slipped into a crevice between the stone and shimmied along until eventually the crevice opened up into a small space, big enough for the two of them to sit in, it was tight but there was just enough room to sit and build a fire to try and warm Kaito, the poor man seemed to frail for these conditions she thought.

Protected from the falling snow and wind Ultear sat Kaido down by the fire, she lent back against the stone wall sitting next to him, the sun was setting, in a little more than an hour it would be night, darkness falls quickly within these lands, it would be suicide to continue their journey in these conditions at night so they decided to wait until sunrise, Ultear closed her eyes for a moment. She awoke suddenly a few hours later, it was pitch black, the fire had dwindled to only embers, what had woken her so suddenly she wondered. It was dead silent, the wind had dropped to an almost nonexistent breeze, she looked to the left and right, up and down the crevice, but there was nothing out of the ordinary until the sound of a tiny pebble falling down the crevice face focused her attention. Someone or something was above them. She rose to her feet silently, crossed the gap between her and the old man and knelt down beside Kaito before gently shaking his arm to wake him.

“Kaito, I fear we are being followed, please remain here while I ensure that we are safe.” she whispered, a voice that was barely audible. His eyes widened in panic as he nodded frantically to express his understanding of the situation, Ultear removed her cloak and covered Kaito with it hiding him entirely as the cloak blended with the earthy ground he lay on, luckily the crevice has been protected from snow fall making this an ideal spot to hide him.

Ultear recalled her tree climbing practise and made her way to the far wall before focusing her chakra into her feet and silently scaling to the top of the crevice.

Note: Technique only for use of training methods.

(Bikoku Ninjutsu) - Shadow Stealth Technique
Type: Supplementary
Rank: E
Range: Short
Chakra: 5
Damage: N/A
Description: This jutsu lets the user follow the target covert by concealing the user's presence.

As she neared the top she knelt down on all fours and sneaked a peak over the top of the stone ledge, in the darkness she could make out four figures a little way away, she closed her eyes to try to heighten her hearing and sure enough, whispers could be heard. Undetectable to anyone other than a Shinobi, though she couldn’t make out what was being said, but now she was faced with a dilemma, surely they aren’t out here by coincidence, they must be looking for Kaito. She climbed over the ledge onto the top of the rocky precipice, silently she reached around to her pocket grabbing four small Shuriken, she approached while still concealing her presence ready to attack, as she came to within hearing distance their true intentions came to light:

Mysterious man one had an in mistakenly deep voice: “I saw them heading this way, that damn weather, how could we lose them, he’s just an old man.”

Mysterious man two: “the boss will be furious if we return empty handed!”

A women’s voice: “Silence you idiots if they are nearby they will hear you, our job is simple, find the old man, take his papers and torture the the rest of the information from him. Until that happens keep your mouths shut”

The first man stifling his laugh “imagine his surprise when he finds out that his own people have sent him to his death, that foolish old man, he believed the village couldn’t afford a Shinobi escort what’s more he’s only got one of those idiotic village people left with him”

The second man sniggered as the woman with them shushed them both once more.

Ultear didn’t need to hear another word, she had given her word that she would protect him, the man that had saved her life, she would guard him at any cost. Seething with anger, she had to take them out, if she threw the Shuriken and she missed given the poor visibility she’d alert them to her presence and location, she slipped the Shuriken back into her pocket and she pulled a Kunai from the top of her thigh high boot, as she neared even closer it became apparent that her opponents were facing away from her, the three of them walking casually making no attempt to conceal their presence, these aren’t Shinobi she thought to herself, she couldn’t justify killing them, she would have to resort to capture, she neared to within a foot of the closest of the three opponents she remained completely undetected confirming her theory, even a ninja at a basic level would be able to detect her from this range, she focused her chakra.

(Sakki) - Killing Intent
Rank: D - S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short - Long
Chakra cost: N/A
Damage points: N/A
Description: Killing Intent pertains to the ability of the user giving off their pure killing intention and having it affect their opponent and others around them up to the point of paralyzing them. When the Killing Intent is particularly strong, it can even give the victim visions of their own gruesome death, nausea, pain, etc. This can cause the Killing Intent to be confused with a genjutsu, despite not being a genjutsu at all; simply a showcase of intention and power. The target will feel as if facing an overwhelming enemy and, even if not a sensor, will suddenly feel the pressure of the users chakra and its magnitude, making the effect that much more dramatic. To effectively be used, the user needs to focus on his target and concentrate on the killing intent towards it, meaning that one must see the target and be focused on it. The strength of the Killing Intent is dependent on many factors and go through several levels. If a difference in rank smaller than 2 ranks exist, the enemy will feel only the pressure and the ominous presence of their dark intentions. Its enough to lose your grasp on a weapon or stay clinched to it (depending on the situation) or even to hesitate in an attack, stumble or mess up a handseal, all depending on the situation and proximity. The effect is small and normally not that significant but can be effectively used to pressure enemies into making a mistake. If a difference of 2 ranks or more exist, the enemy will be frozen, almost unable to move as the overwhelming killing intent dominates their own conscious and riddles them with nightmarish versions of death. The paralyzation gradually weakens as time passes and can only be maintained while the user is focused on the target. The further away the target, the weaker it is and it can only fully paralyze a target within short range. Similarly, the more targets one focuses on, the weaker the effect is in each one (divinding the effects equally between the number of targets). Lastly, the stronger the user is in relation to the target, the stronger the effect will be. The target can counter Killing Intent directed at it through pain, "mind cleansing" techniques or their own Killing Intent.
Note: Intensity of technique depends on the rank of the user, distance to target and number of targets one is focusing on
Note: Can only be used once
Note: Lasts only while the user is focusing on it and while focusing on it the user can't mold chakra

Knowing that it would be easy to overbear her opponents with them being average thugs possessing no ninja rank, Ultear focused all of her anger and hatred towards the three that sought to find Kaito and harm him, she exerted a pressure throughout the area, her desire to kill them oozing from her chakra as it surrounded them, she let loose all of her negative emotions into a malevolent wave that crashed into her opponents, they froze in fear instantly, rooted to the spot, she could feel the terror radiating from their bodies, the deep voiced man vomited violently as the woman cried out as though she were being attacked;

“No, no please, no don’t kill me, please” she begged, clearly hallucinating while under the pressure of Ultear’s ninjutsu technique, Ultear maintained her focus on her chakra and acted quickly knowing she wouldn’t have long spreading with having to divide her chakra between three opponents, she pulled a long coil of wire from her pocket, she twisted the end into a loop fastening it around the nearest thugs arm, he shook violently on the spot, sweat visibly running down his face, she paced quickly around the group twice pulling the wire tight collecting them together before tying the wire off trapping them. She heard a shout, it wasn’t the group she’d captured, then it dawned on her, there were four figures in the darkness, she’d only captured three, the fourth must have slipped away unnoticed. Damn it she thought as she dropped the wire to the floor and sprinted back to where she’d left Kaito, she approached the crevice and there on the other side stood a tall man, his hair partially covering his left eye, he stood smiling, holding Kaito, arm twisted behind his back.

“You thought you could fool me with such a simple trick woman?” The man spat at Ultear, “give me the paper work!” He spoke calmly, “hand it over and I’ll let him go” he spoke wryly. The man before her was clearly a Shinobi this time, were the others a distraction to lure her away from Kaito in the first place? Had he known she was there all along? She took a step forward towards them, the man instantly reacted snatching Kaito backwards as he stepped back away from Ultear maintaining the distance between them, Kaito shouted out in pain. Ultear clenched her fist in frustration, she couldn’t hand over the documents she was carrying, she knew their plan was to torture him to gain the rest of the information regarding the cure. She’d have to fight, but how to approach a hostage situation like this? Her chain of thought was broken by the sound of approaching footsteps behind her, she didn’t need to turn to see that the opponents she had previously attempted to capture had broken free as she failed to finish tying the wire before she came running back to Kaito. They laughed from behind her, Shinobi or not this was now a dangerous situation, four opponents stood between her and saving Kaito, some guard she was turning out to be, in the blink of an eye Ultear pulled three Shuriken from her pocket, pivoting on her heel she threw the Shuriken at the three targets behind her, one, two, three they made contact, she continued to turn performing a full 360 degree turn to face her main opponent once again, she’d only wounded the others, it wouldn’t be enough to stop them from attacking her but it would buy her some time, she lunged forward heading directly towards them both, she’d assessed that the opponent held no weapon to Kaito, he needed him alive and so threatening his life right now was not in her opponents best interest, taking advantage of that fact she stormed the offender, he stood at least a foot taller than Kaito as the old man was hunched over in old age, Ultear swung her leg up aiming for her opponents head

She turned in time to see the last of the three thugs getting to their feet, as they charged at her, she rushed to meet them closing the distance to mid range, with Kaito safely behind her she inhaled a deep breath, breathing wind infused chakra into the palm of her hand, she shaped it as she ran approaching close to short range she fired a whirlwind like ball at the first of the three opponents before firing off another two in rapid succession at the two opponents that flanked the first, all three balls of wind hit her targets knocking them off their feet stopping them in their tracks, she did not wish to kill those that possessed no Shinobi abilities but she couldn’t allow them to harm Kaito.

With her opponents defeated, knocked to the ground unconscious, Ultear skidded to a halt, turning as she slid she headed back towards Kaito, she dropped to her knees beside him frantically checking him all over for signs of blood or injury.

“Be calm my dear, I am fine thanks to you” he smiled at her, “help an old man to his feet please?” He asked, Ultear nodded as she stood extending her hand, he took it and she slowly helped him to stand. The sun was rising, the man turned towards the morning sun, “you see that over there my dear?” He asked. “It seems as though we have travelled further than I originally thought, that, is our destination, Not even an hour away, which means where we are currently stood must be Goliaths Gate” he gestured at the surrounding area with both arms. She hadn’t noticed in the dark but they were stood atop one of two ginormous rock formations that had a sliver of a gap between them that tapered out into a distinct passage way. She wondered how the enormous landmark had come to gain its name, but a story for another day she thought, as her next task was to descend to the bottom of the huge rocks with Kaito, there was no way he could scale the sheer rock faces. She walked to the edge and focused her Earth chakra into the ground below making multiple earth pillars erect from the wall diagonally down to the ground forming a kind of makeshift staircase. She gestured to Kaito to come over and ushered him down the stairs, if he slipped at any point she’d be able to catch him from this angle.

they carefully made their way down the makeshift steps reaching the bottom of the rock formation unscathed, finally a little luck for the old man. They crossed the short stretch of arctic tundra before them as they finally approached the gates of the village, with the gates firmly shut the old man called out, hoping that somebody answer. A few moments passed when a helmet clad man lent over the wall above the gate, looking down he spoke to Kaito asking who he was and what his business was, after a brief discussion between the two the guard gave the order to open the gate, Ultear and Kaito were led through the village to a large two story building, it looked like a hospital, they were led inside and headed coveralls to put on before proceeding, Ultear trailed behind Kaito as he walked alongside the guard talking over the current situation within the village, Ultear didn’t pay much attention to the conversation. They finally approached a set of white double doors, the guard knocked once before proceeding into the room and holding the door for both Kaito and herself. Upon entering they were greeted by a middle aged man, he practically jumped out of his seat as he rushed over to Kaito taking his hand in a firm grip and shaking it vigorously, he was clearly happy at Kaito’s arrival, they spoke for a short while and Ultear daydreamed not understanding the complexity of the medicinal nature of the conversation and feeling slightly uncomfortable in the situation before her name was mentioned pulling her back to the present, she was gathered up into a tight hug by the man that had greeted Kaito, not quite understanding the issue she shot Kaito a confused look, he chuckled.

“My dear, I simply explained to my friend here that if it wasn’t for you, I’d never have made it to the village and that you carried my medical documents and defended them with your life, he is merely expressing his gratitude in the only way he knows how, he has also said that you can stay here as long as you like, there’s no need to leave in a hurry, you are welcome” Kaito smiled and laughed a little more before continuing “
“Ida I think it would be a good idea for us to sit and talk over a stiff drink, we can tell you all about our journey here” Kaito suggested.

“Yes, that sounds like a wonderful idea my friend” Ida nodded in agreement as he spoke patting his friend on the shoulder.
