Kakashi’s pov
After a gentle walk through the streets of konoha, we finally made it to minato sensei’s office. As we entered the building, Rin and I spotted a few of our mates. “Yo kakashi,rin!” Asuma hollered from across the building.
“yo! Asuma, Kurenai” we both shouted back. As always, Kurenai was with Asuma. She waved at us happily. It was pretty easy to make out those two were pretty close. As they walked past us, I quickly high fived Asuma. ”I never knew you were with Rin” he whispered into my ear. “WHAT!” I gave him my harshest glare before turning around and continuing to walk to Minato’s office. Rin gave me a confused look but soon shrugged it of as I forced out a little smile out off my embarrassment. Finally, we made it. Rin put her hand up to the door and decided to knock. “Enter!” we heard Minato sensei shout.
“Ohayo gozaimasu sensei!”
“Haha, Rin! Kakashi! You’re early!” I let out a little chuckle. Really, was I always extremely late? Rin on the other hand was grinning like crazy. “You summoned us sensei?” she asked. I turned to face my sensei, remembering why we were here. “Hai. Kakashi, Rin, its great to see that you came together. Now I won’t have to repeat myself.” His eyes ran across my face, waiting for my expression. It suddenly occurred to me what he had just said.
“Sensei, will kakashi and I be going on a mission together?”
“Hai, Rin. It seems to me that the two of you would be perfect for the job.” A feeling of excitement shot up through my body. I was going on a mission, alone, with Rin!!!! Minato sensei chuckled from my flabbergasted expression.
“Now if you’re ready, I’ll start explaining”. “Hai!!” we both chorused.
“Alright then. Keep all questions to the end. This way, I can get through it quicker”. I gave him a small nod, showing him that I understood.
“As you may have already heard, the land of wind is the home of Makeza. Makeza is the 3rd kazekage’s 2nd grandson. Unlike his brother, Natsuko, Makeza has no talents as a shinobi. He is weak, timid, and in the 3rd hokage’s words, a shame to the village. Makeza is mostly looked down on by the village elders and really doesn’t have any sort of voice in the village. Recently, we had our ANBU come back with evidence stating that rogue shinobi from the land of fire were planning to kidnap Makeza for ransom. These rogue shinobi are sadly so dull that they don’t realize that Makeza’s family and village wouldn’t really give a damn if he went missing, or in other words gets killed. Fortunately, a close friend of Makeza sent us a request to protect Makeza. Makeza’s friend, Sakuma is a highly skilled shinobi who not long ago got accepted into the land of wind’s anbu. Kakashi, you should know how being in the anbu is.”
I nodded. Being in the anbu really did eat up your time and you rarely got to be with your mates. Also, their rules and policys are crap. They don’t give a damn about comrades. All they care about is successfully completing the mission to the requestor’s standards. Luckily for me, I quit not so long ago.
”Back to the point, Sakuma realized this and decided to have 2 highly skilled shinobi to protect Makeza as he himself wouldn’t be able to do that. That’s why you two are here. The two off you will be Makeza’s body guards. It’s really a simple job considering the potential of the two off you. Though, this all has a twist to it. The two of you can’t act like body guards. Makeza’s family or village elders don’t know that the two of you were hired to protect him. If they were to find out, the two of you might be killed for posing as ‘spies’. In other words, you’ll act as if you were all childhood friends who were meeting up after a few years. Luckily, Makeza lives in a mansion by himself allowing the two of you to stay with him. Act casual towards the village elders, they might get suspicious of you. Fortunately though, Makeza mostly always has connections outside his own village meaning that the two of you wont stand out too much. One other thing, the two of you are to be in casual wear and not the konoha uniform. You will have one day to pack and will be expected to leave tomorrow to the village hidden in the sand. Any questions?”
“Sensei, this mission, it seems to simple to be an a-ranked one. This seems like something chuunin would end up doing.” I turned to look at Rin to see that she was nodding in agreement to me. “Smart as always, kakashi.” He said with a grin.
I let out a small chuckle at the compliment but continued to listen to my sensei.
“Well, I don’t think I explained to you about those rogue ninja. They were previous Konoha members. They were extremely skilled and out of the group of five, three were ex ANBU members. “Wait wait wait” Rin all off a sudden said. “If three off them were ex ANBU members, wouldn’t they have been hunted down and killed?” Rin’s face had a mixture off confusion and seriousness. This mission was obviously more than what met the eye. “Well, they should have been. When the three left, we had about fifteen ANBU men set out to either bring them back or kill them. The three instead managed to kill all fifteen of our men. They’re at the top of almost each bingo book and are still being hunted down by our anbu. This happened about two years ago. Now do you see how serious this mission is? These are highly skilled rogue shinobi we are talking about. That’s why the two of you were chosen. Your both extremely skilled. Kakashi,” he turned to me and looked me right in the eye.
“you’re an extremely strong shinobi who strategizes and attacks well. Rin,” he turned to face her and looked her right in the eye. “As well as being an incredibly strong konoichi, you are as well a highly qualified medical ninja.” I looked up to see my sensei smiling at me. I smilled back and looked at Rin. One part of her looked excited and confident while the other side showed that she was scared. Hm, she wont have to worry. I’ll protect her. I gave her a warm smile through my mask. Well, it seemed to help her!
"One last thing." sensei said. His voice was all of a sudden extremely serious. "Makeza is more than meets the eye. Dont disregard him like the village elders. He may not seem it, but he is smarter than what they all say."
we both gave a him a nod of understanding.
“Goodluck to the both of you's. Not that you’ll need it!” our sensei was beaming at us like he always did. He was the perfect hokage. So strong but yet so humble; Made excellent decisions while still caring about his comrades. He was someone I truly wanted to be. “Alright, ekizo” I said to Rin. “Hai” she answered with a strong look off determination on her face. We took one last look at our sensei before heading out of his office, ready to pack our belongings for the mission that awaited us tomorrow.
