Besides the hidden sound village, who kind of keep a low profile, it's a pretty nice place. No violence, no war, no stupid politics..

Instead I live in Philadelphia, the most morally and politically backwards city in PA. For example, this month, cigarette taxes have been raised 2 dollars to support schools. At the same time, weed is becoming decriminalized.

Raise taxes for school and give easier access to narcotics.. Dat logic

All I'm saying is this crap doesn't happen in the peaceful little rice patty land

Oh yeah and people are getting murdered left and right

Don't kid yourself. Only middle class people who work in center city are still paying it. Everyone with a driver's license is just driving outside philly to media, levittown, cherry hill etc to get them.

A pack of Newports costs 6.52$ at state minimum outside philly. If you buy say, ten packs, your saving twenty dollars.

Well, cash awarding welfare is actually dying out. It's mostly awarded to single mom's now. I know that's a generalization but from my experience a vast majority of those cases are accepted.

I don't think a single mom on welfare should be smoking though.. Especially not at my pace(1 and a half to 2 packs a day). Affording that, even without the new tax, is difficult to do if your not fairly well of.

I'm aware that smoking tobacco is extremely detrimental to my health. However, it's a life style choice. I'm a high end landscaper so I can afford it.

My problem with the tax is that there are other ways to gain quick, dispensable revenue. Instead of cashing in on someone's life style choice, they could add a 50¢ or 1$ tax to milk. Everyone drinks milk.

Let's say for sake of argument a large amount of people decide to either quit smoking or buy cigarettes outside the city in the next year. If we depend on the cash earned from this tax, we're going to end up with even more debt.

It's a quick fix solution that has the potential for failure and singles out a demograph.
