I am pretty sure he doesn't want to be promoted and moved from his squad. Also he doesn't want a bankai when his captin doesn't have one

That's what I thought at first but remember Yamamoto's vice captain he had bankai and never moved to become a captain nor was forced to I think it is a choice more of but my real thought is why wouldn't he want kenpachi to see it?

One of the qualifications of becoming a Captain is having a Bankai.
He doesn't want anyone to know that he has Bankai because he doesn't want to be promoted.


He respects Zaraki immensely and he wants to fight and die under his command. That's how much he respects him.

The 11th Division looks down upon Kido-based zanpaktous.
There's nothing wrong with having a Bankai. Especially one like Ikkaku's that's based on sheer power.
