There is something I want to know~~ And I have to ask for the cooperation of the mods for this to work, IF, it is possible and can be kept at an anonymous and general level!

I'm interested in knowing how it is with reports of rule-breaking posts that members make and how moderators handle/see them, namely: Whenever we members report a post, we have to write an explanation/description in this box, giving a description/explanation of the troublesome post being reported.

Now,

Does it matter what we write? Can we describe or add something to make things easier for you mods??

I don't know for myself how moderators see these reports, which is why their input on it all could help to make things run more smoothly for the sake of discussion.

I'm not asking for new rules on what to write when describing these posts, just for a discussion and development on possible guidelines for facilitating reporting.

Sure, mods will usually have to check the entire thread and people probably lie as well as abuse this box where we give our descriptions, but could we write or add something that, providing we're not abusing this function, helps??

I'd like normal members as well as mods to participate in a discussion on it, as it is an subject we both should have knowledge about in the case where there is room for improvement.

Edit: If you read this edit, after having read the text above once, please, reread, I made a mistake and corrected it -_-.. If not, heyo~

Its easier if you keep your report comments concise. The title usually gives away the nature of the thread and the mod clicking it would be enough to see exactly what you have.

I've used the Mod CP a few times on other forums and i'm sure its not that different on here. Much like we get notifications, they get reports. Once they see and deal with the reports, they consider it "read". They pretty much to do this for every report so you can see why it would be annoying to receive countless reports from a single thread/post.

I don't see the need for a discussion when its a pretty straightforward process. Hopefully this answers your question ^^

When you send the report it reaches the mod who is responsible for the fourm which made in he read what is in it and go check the thread out if it was true he close It

We see everything you report, including the description box. And for me, it is easier if you do indeed specify why exactly you reported that post.
If you wish for the thread or reported post to be handled in a certain manner, than feel free to state that as well. For example, there was a recent post in a battle where the user wished for a RP moderator to wrap up the battle and close the thread. He stated all of this in the description box.

The box is there so you can specify the problem you are reporting to the staff. If you see spam and simply write a spam post then they will know what it is airtight away giving them less work to do.

Ah, nice points and invaluable information, considering you've been one(a mod)!

The concise part I get, and yes, they would see what kind of thread it is through the title alone, usually, as you said. Or just clicking it would be enough to note its direction and/or nature.

I'm pointing at the report in and of itself, how it is built:

I for one, usually write only 'SPAM,' 'Flame' and so on, keeping it super-short. This you say is enough?
If so, then super!
Then there really isn't any need for discussion and I was over-thinking it all:ghehe: Thanks!

That is the usual process I suppose? Thx for the input~
Damn based on the title I thought you were going to sing....
Hehehe~ Yeah, it was my intention for y'all to make associations of things other than what the context would be about through the title:hint:

i doubt they give a f*ck really, by the way, you make threads no1 ever thinks about or cares about, why?
Because I'm special!xd Few get my humour and few have the patience to read the usually long texts I write.. Haaa~

I suppose, then, it's a question answered differently by different mods?
I see these are options as well! Thx for the input~

Maybe a bit more than a single word. If i'm being lazy i write one word like "Spam" if the title/topic is glaringly obvious xd. Usually, i write a single sentence making it easier for the mod e.g. "Causing a flame war", "Inappropriate content for younger members" and so on.

Thank you! :D
Now, when you report, what do you usually write(depending on the post/thread being reported)?
If it's spam, I just write "spam". No need to make a whole explanation if it can be explained by typing one word.
If the thread can cause flame wars, I usually write "Possibility of turning into a flame war."
Or if a thread is made a lot of times before, I usually send "Thread made various times before". Usually they'll see that it's made various times before in the title LOL
But yeah, aside from "spam" I usually send one sentence or so, explaining what the problem is.

Ah, these I do too at times, but for Kiritsugu it seems commenting upon why you made the report would help as well and we don't know about other mods, so I suppose after that this could become a good discussion after all?? Idk, maybe I'm over-thinking things again:ghehe:

:lmao:
your posts are long
i ve seen it when you suggested for the japanese section U_U
ahahaha~:ghehe:
Don't worry, I'm going to a lecture at Uni next week to learn examples on how to improve this!xd

Those bastards, they're keeping me guessing, or forgot completely about the thread!xd

Btw, have you any input on this??

Reporting alerts the forum moderators if someone needs their help or if there is a problem at the forum which needs to be resolved.

You can use it two ways:

  • If you see violation to the rules- spam/ flame, you can report it so that moderators can take care of the problematic posts.

(In this case- Don't respond to spam, flames, and trolls, much less flame them back. There is no need to tell people you are reporting them. It doesn't help anyone and only leads to more arguments. Hit report, move on. )

  • Similarly, if you need help in fixing any thread or post, you can ask for help via the report button. Section mods can edit thread titles, move them to their correct section, open, close or merge threads, add spoilers, edit polls as needed.
In the description box, you can state what kind of help is needed or name the rule which is being broken. Sometimes the reason is self-evident, at other times, it may not be so. e.g.

Just let your common sense guide you. Most of the times that`s enough.
