I thought EMS granted Immortality

I think Itachi said something about Madara being immortal. It was speculated for a while before we found out Tobi was not Madara.

I remember thinking that too, but then figured it wasn't true when we saw the other Madara. The thought came from the summit, i think, when everyone accepted Tobi as Madara because the EMS could have "possibly" granted him immortality. I think that the characters have allowed for it as a possibility because its such a mysterious ability rather than took it as a sure fact... We as readers put too much stock into that, i think (but maybe not, haha)

Itachi clearly states that Madara obtained immortality and that Itachi could too. We don't know enough about Tobi to rule out his being Madara's legacy... maybe Madara created a baby between two males with izanagi (Hashirama + Madara)
