He's a cool character but he really doesn't have much to do with anything at the moment. I'd rather see Sasuke than Yamato.

Well, the main focus is now on Naruto's fight with Madara and Obito and on Sasuke and his quest. At this point in the story they are all too preoccupied with their fights/quests, it would be weird if the focus suddenly switched to Yamato. Unless something happens that includes Yamato, it will be a while before he is shown again I think.
That doesn't mean he has forgotten about him though.
