There is an interview, stating he is a big fan of NaruHina since the Chunin Exam. He even wanted to animate the NH moment during the war, but it was already taken. I think he is just trying to please the fandom, which is nice. SasuSaku fandom is toxic, just look at his NaruHina art and you can see them begging for SS art almost insulting.
