He had so much build up. He had more hype than Kaguya and right when you thought he reached his fullest potential he just kept getting stronger and stronger, somehow.

It sucks that he had no direct relevance to Naruto or Sasuke, but he was taking the backseat for most of the war for Obitos development honestly. For what minor connection he did have to them even that was more than Kaguya, and his sympathy for Sasuke being the last Uchiha could have been fleshed out more.

I could forgive Naruto calling Obito the coolest guy and that bullshit with BZ wouldn't have happened... but then Kaguya happened, as a gateway for Gaiden and 2 movies.

If only.

NUNS4 should have a 'what if Madara was the FV' DLC! or what if saga (if the games do that).

Hated him as a villain, guy was just an arrogant bundle of powerups who was
going to cast something that was pretty okay with no downsides(if they kicked his ass then it'd
be pretty odd considering his plan seemed a bit solid), until Kaguya reared into the equation.

There really wasn't much to Madara, he was only slightly more developed than Hashi.

Madaras defeat would've been even worse if he was fv. Tnj was a high possibility.

No. Kaguya was bland, but she was still better than Madara. The guy was a walking Deus Ex Machina, with far too many powerups. He deserved to go down pathetically, and we all know he did. The only reason he survived more than 5 minutes is that Kishi can't remember when someone has sand injected into their veins.

He was still better than Kaguya.
And always having a backup plan was part of what made him so interesting. He was a mastermind. He added a new layer of villainy to the story because there was always that 'Obito is almost done but what is Madara going to do now?' question. It's good when a support villain like him can keep us on our toes and assume the main role like he did with a plot twist

Kaguya was a better final villain than Madara. Contrary to what many people think, him getting the Final Villain position actually ruins his character and what Kishi did was the best way to prevent that.

And that's how he should have stayed: A support villain. After he was ressurected, the manga turned into a neverending stream of Madara getting Powerups and the shit kicked out of him. Madara isn't suited to take the main role as villain.

He was a mastermind, I agree--but I still can't overlook the fact that he got played
He was a great villain at forst but got tiresome after a while. Badass up to joining Obito & that's when he gradually went downhill after powerups & illogical troll moves

Honestly he took the main role as soon as he showed up. Not only was he much more badass than Obito, it was basically spelled out as soon as he stated Nagato's name that he was behind it and Obito was a pawn. Betraying Obito was spotted (at least by me) a mile away and his resurrection was obvious as soon as it was revealed that ETs can't be a JJ. Not really a plot twist for me, just an obvious step in the plot.

I think that Naruto & Sasuke could have beaten him if they went back to their roots against him as they did against Kaguya. Using the TSO with a clone to distract Kaguya was clever and would have probably worked on Madara at least once.
Reverse Harem was funny but if Naruto used it on Madara (preferably Hashi clones) then I would have roared out laughing!
And Obito dying naturally by the end of the Madara fight rather than desentegrated and giving Kakashi a powerup would have seemed better. Also the hopping to different dimensions with Kaguya got tiresome. ALTHOUGH revealing the power behind having BOTH Kamui was amazing.

All in all I agree with the OP. Madara should have been the last.

I think Kaguya was the better final villain. Madara was cool and all. But he was a victim of the curse of hatred.

Yeah, but he was immortal and Kishimoto couldn't think of a better way to kill him.

WOW, then what do you consider as plot?. Being the most feared mother/woman of NV and then get her ass kicked in a instant by two kids?
Madara achived those "powerups" by himself, he is a prime example of a True shinobi. And he ruled the story until BZ.

The origins of a power up are irrelevant. If a character gets too many, they cannot satisfactorily be taken out. Madara had too many as an Edo. In short, I've seen people call him Double Rinnegan Rinne Sharingan Shinju Juubi Jinchuriki Rikudou Sage Mode Immortal Madara

I dont like to remind people twice. But its quality not quantity my friend.

your problem is kaguya herself, she ate a single fruit which gave her the origin of chakra plus overwhelming power.

Yes, he should have been the FV. That'd keep things real and under control without going overboard with power i.e. no Otsutsuki. But as lame as Madara became after becoming JJ, it's kind of good that he wasn't the FV.

Madara was so strong that it still wouldn't have made sense for him to lose. He comes back to life and solos everyone. What does Kishi do? Make him a Juubijin. Naruto and Sasuke get a power-up, what does kishi do? Gives Maddy his other eye and unlocks the third. He couldn't be defeated.

And if he was the FV you can guarantee that TnJ would come into play. At least he was defeated by a god.
