Evidence wise it most likely to be Kabuto.

1.Bare foot.
2.Cave to battlefield walking distance worn them out.

Why shouldn't Kabuto redeem himself?
Villians should remain Villians.

Most of the recent villians were defeated by TNJ.

The villians that were TnJ were the ones who had a bad childhood and witness something that triggered them. Well for Kishimoto's character.

Either way I don't see any problem with Kabuto's restoration.

In theory, it can work. It's just Kishimoto is quite an awry writer with complex characters like Kabuto, Danzo & Obito. One second he can write them perfectly and then mess it up the next- it's risky. And in a crowded battlefield with the other 1000 ninjas we know already fighting in line for a panel every week- it's going to be rushed.

Kishi has to tread so delicately with this character if he plans to bring him back. I personally think he should've been left in the cave and discovered by his nursery friend during a captionless montage finishing off the war or even part of the epilogue/ending credits. Something small and subtle.

It CAN work, i'm just worried because the reputation and personality of my favourite fictional character is on the line and Kishi didn't do a 100% job last time VS the Uchiha. It's going to be hard to come to terms with the fact that his story is a 3-part structure rather than just 2.

I really prefer Kabuto to remain as a villain and kill off or absorb Sasuke instead of saving but other wise I don't really have problem with Kabuto being nice guy again either way I mean we finally get to see Kabuto again so he might pull this through somehow.

Kabuto is just one of the most interesting characters, you can see how much Kishi love this characters.
