I need some Coloring Tips

Can anyone tell me how to seep color in the armor without making it too bold and noticeable ?
I am trying to add in a gray tint ,but it keeps coming out looking really bland.
What tools should i use to make the color transgression look more natural ?

Try using a grey for the shading rather than the armor color.

Stick to basic saturated colours and then work with lighting and shade to add the depth you need. I think a khaki or navy blue would work good for the armour.
