Need to be more focused on the face, I can barely tell where the Background is, so its hard to say what looks good or not. Also, the avatar itself looks low quality, don't know why

ok...i see what you mean....and it looks low quality because i made a blur effect...anyways, thanks for the feedback, ill try to improve

Blend and use brushes. Have focal points. Maybe watch a few tutorials, they help alot bro.

You should probably have a background that's not another character or a picture, just something that looks good.

thank you....these are actually the first avatars i made with gimp instead of paint....and gimp is pretty complicated

Yeh so is photoshop, but once you get the hang of it then you're away. I use photoshop but I have seen some awesome GFing on gimp. To me they're one in the same.
