Is an empty and meaningless excuse from Kishimoto. Because walking around forests feeding cats, visiting dimensions and saving the odd village is NOT atoning for anything. If someone were to atone for sins, they would make things right with the people they individually hurt. The 5 Kage. The Uchiha clan. Naruto and absolutely Sakura.

I don't even care about Sakura but think that line is insanely insulting. What part of your sins DON'T involve her? She was there at the beginning, in the war, the Valley to heal you and the Kage summit with you at your lowest to kill you. You two are absolutely involved.

He then talks about wanting to see the ninja world as a whole, but he's been IN the ninja world this entire time! Learning universal truths from Kages and bouncing between affiliations and villages. This makes NO sense, a far-off village in the Land of Tea is not going to hold the answers.

His excuse's logic actually should dictate the opposite of his actions...but no, fans accept it because it sounds cool. So by all means, go on your Ninja gap year, Sasuke. Anything to actually not have to talk to these people.

I think the Kaguya stuff is fairly understandable (even though its proven that didnt eat up much of his adult life to find)

but the Sasuke Shinden novel and the other adventures from that era? Just shitty of him tbh

Well , to be fair , Sasuke atoned for his sins about 5 Kage and Naruto .... (He saved the world several times and kept their lives safe)
But about Sakura .... I totally agree , Sasuke made many mistakes about her and even can't atone for his sins about her .

You really can't tho especially when the thought and evidence of a larger threat is going on. We also don't know if it's proven or not since the novels aren't confirmed canon.

That's honestly a very nice take, I feel the truth is somewhere in the middle of our views and maybe you're giving Kishi a tad too much credit for your gorgeous interpretation.

Tbh I don't really consider what he did atoning... but whateves. Imo he's not really doing anything any other konoha shinobi wouldn't do if they had that kind of power.... they're konoha nin, they're all pretty much ready to protect the village from any threat with their lives if need be

Kishi really messed up the conclusion of Sasuke's character horribly. At least the above gave Kishi an excuse to make Sasuke more appealing. I agree with your points.
