I miss the ninjaishness

I miss stuff at the beginning of the series when people used weapons and used tajutsu to fight along with the small occasional special ability. It seemed like intelligence and skill played a bigger factor in the beginning rather than sheer power.

Now all the main characters seem to have an endless chakra reserve and can shoot huge energy balls that can destroy mountains. It's not quite as fun as it used to be.

I prefer what we have over some lame-ass metal-throwing kids. Lee vs Gaara is the only fight from Part 1 that can truly contend with Part 2. It just needs less giant forms and more close combat.

They were children straight out of the academy when the manga started. They didn't have training in Jutsu just basic kunai skills and what not. Therefore it makes sense that part 1 was more tactical since they had a very limited skill setting work with and if they didn't use it well they died.

I agree with you that some of the battles aren't as tactical in part 2 but that's also a positive. It means the characters have grown and developed from children to more complete ninja. Although I do wish kishi featured more taijutsu.

You don't know why I posted something relevant about the manga, in a place that discusses the manga, lamenting the direction Kishi is going with the manga?

You need to distinguish between when someone is providing constructive criticism over just hating the entire series. I don't like where it has gone but that doesn't mean I don't like it.

Yeah I think the power level should have been capped at Nagato's Chibaku Tensei level. And when 1 Bijuu was completely overwhelming. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching power rangers with all of these gigantic monsters punching eachother.

I don't like being the kind of person who hates on Part II simply out of hipsterism since most of my fave characters are Part II-exclusive, but on the other hand... Whenever I re-read Part I, I get chills down my spine from their battles, conflicts between ideals, underdogs overcoming geniuses, the sense of danger etc. But in Part II this thrill is mostly gone. I still feel "it" whenever epic stuff happens, sometimes it has me giggling out of excitement, but it is an entirely different feel. I don't really know how to put it, but let's just say, I enjoy both parts, but or different reasons.

Yeah I also miss that. I still love Naruto, I'm a die hard fan. But I kinda dislike those ( as someone else said ) "giant energy balls and shields and monsters punching each other". I believe that after the arc is over ( if the manga continues ) most people will be at an average level again. Naruto will probably be the only one OP after the hokages disappear and Madara is defeated.
