in order for kishimoto to continue to write the manga , you have to buy the volumes or the volumes has to be purchased.

when me and my brother started anime/manga we bought some volumes. my brother thought that you have to color them yourself so we spent our time coloring them LMAO it took us 20+ volumes to realize that it should be b&w XD

I remember in the volumes I bought there was always a little extra something something, (bookmarks, interviews, posters etc.) And nothing is nicer than having the manga IRL.

So that the author and the publishing companies can continue the series?

Nowadays, the scanlations are absolutely nothing when compared to the official translators' work. Especially when it comes to One Piece. Many unofficial translators fail to notice certain references, puns and many subtle jokes. Not to mention the translation errors. Also, the official English translators can simply send their scripts directly to the Japanese staff, if they're not sure about something. Unofficial ones don't have that luxury.

I'm not saying that I have never watched or read something unofficial, but if an individual have enough money to support the series that they like so much... There's no harm in supporting it by official means.

Then whatever series you watch, you don't love. You should support it in some form, whether it be buying volumes, dvds, games, figures, etc....
