I completely agree! I started watching naruto after. Seeing a YouTube video of itachi's last words to sasuke and thought it is very cool and all...

Why is everyone thanking the OP?
This thread doesn't present any new information and I've seen way better threads shot down in the past ._.
It reminds me of one of those tacky movie reviews.

Not that I mean to hate... but, really?

yes

I agree. For me it is extremely funny and also extremely sad at the same time. And since I'm an emotional person, it gets to me. Plus it's done in a very exciting way. You never know what happens and it's not so predictable.

LOL.. I disagree... and I think I am the only person. I would say that MOST other mangas are far more abstract and far more ridiculous, but they are not nearly as popular as naruto. I think that Naruto is poartially more popular because it is so much more realistic than most other mangas (aside from some new crazy stuff going on) especially before shippuden. Kids learning ninja skillz rather than angels fighting demonic vampires n crap.

MOST importantly, I think it is so popular because it has created a completely different kind of world and portrayed kids growing up in that culture, which is CRAZY popular these days. Look at Harry Potter - kids in magic land.... twilight - kids in vampire land etc

Yeah, I guess I can buy that.

If you want to see a really "abstract and ridiculous" series, check out Lupin III.

Ahhh I love lupin! Use to watch it on cartoonnetwork!.

People should watch shin Chan also!

And Dragon ball z omg so kool! (lol im joking im not that noob)

I think it's because we are hooked as kids, watching saturday morning cartoons. Then when we learn the internets a thing and we can watch the episodes the haven't been aired yet. Then we get to the endof the subbed episodes and read the manga. Boom Insta Naruto Fan.

Basically my life story.

First fight I saw was Gaara vs Lee i believe. [edit: Actually may have been the start of Chunin exams, episode 24. It was a marathon so I saw quite a few that night]. That was enough to get me enticed. Watched about 4 "dubbed" episodes, but didn't understand how the term "believe it" made any sense at all. Switched to annimeepisodes.net to watch "subbed". Then found out Hulu had them nice and free. Watched all the way until Naruto ended and Shippuuden began. Realized waiting so long for the episodes was killing me so I jumped ship to Manga and now wait religiously every week for the new issue.

Also, I am way too old for this, yet I am stuck because I just want to know how it all ends.
