It was during the great 3rd shinobi war. He witnessed all the death and gruesome violence wich most likely made him awaken his sharingan at that point from all the trauma he witnessed. Also that's why he is a pacifist who doesn't like war.

im pretty sure the databook or some other source tells us the age he did it at..i dont think he was alive for the 3rd war

Maybe. But he could have awakened it from the emotional trauma of knowing that Shisui died. Itachi didn't kill him, but I think that he dispose of his body after Shisui gave him his Sharingan. That can cause an Uchiha to awaken their Sharingan.

He is kakashi is in it and he is only like two year older and itachi was better than kakashi so most likely he was in the war

People he was alive during the war lol. He probably was at age four or five since he was like 4 or 5 years older than sasuke. Anyways he witnessed what war was like. Living hell..
