he must get screen time, otherwise why would Kishi bring back someone who was hailed as "god of the shinobi world" and not get him involved in the big fight ??? besides Minato and the rest are in desperate need of back up.

Hiruzen along with his 4 other clones had to defend against the 5 elements attack while the other Kage and Fodder Alliance couldn't do anything because they were practically out of Chakra. Team Taka sneaked in moments after the 5 Elements Clash before Hiruzen can finish off Zetsu.
