People say sometimes that Naruto was supposed to end soon after Pain invasion. But where did this come from? If it's a rumor, how did it start?

Some people believe that the plot should have ended at that time and thought it would be a good stopping point... I disagree with those people.

From people's minds. It starts with brain cells transmitting information to our mouths.

Probably it did.

Kishimoto had to make changes because of the publishing company that produces the manga said so.

I have my doubts on if that were the case; it's probably communication here. If Naruto had ended during the Pain Arc; it woulda been perfect. It WAS the perfect arc to end a series at. If Sasuke, Tobi, and all of that were handled before the Pain arc.. I could of seen it ending there.

But, since before part 2, Kakashi gaiden pretty much set up for where we are now. Kishi most likely had no plans on stopping at the Pein Arc.

Someone made it up because they felt like the Pein arc was a good stopping point for the story.
