Naruto didn't use the clone hand-seal when he summoned his clones on episode 46 of Boruto. His hands were tuck inside his cloak. I'm willing to accept this was a mistake on SP part. But then again, Naruto isn't your average ninja. He's a god amongst others.​

I just chalk it up to mastering it, much like sasuke did with chidori to the point he didn’t need hand seals anymore. At least that’s what I like to tell myself lol. there’s times in the anime where he’s popped out more clones mid fight and didn’t seem to use the seal, and then there’s times where they go out of their way to show him using the seal. Then there’s the anime vote2 where they go out of their way to show us he can’t do it without a seal

Maybe those weren’t Naruto’s shadow clones. Perhaps it was another ninja (or ninjas) used the transformation technique to turn into the Hokage, make shadow clones and relay the scripted message. But I’m giving it too much thought.

Novel claimed he can use shadow clones by simply crossing his index and middle fingers. If need be, I think he can cast it with a single hand.

Pretty sure he can do it without weaving a sign.

Sometimes they'll go out of their way to make him do the sign, but it's more than likely for the nostalgia effect.
