He is asking Hashirama, what is so special about the Leaf Village that made Itachi kill his family and ultimately kill himself to protect it, and still die as a proud man who was happy to protect his village. In short, what is this village....that people kill and die to protect it.
And who and what are the Shinobi who created these sort of conditions for other ninjas in the village, in which men like Itachi willingly give their lives and cut down their own family members. Also, why are these conditions acceptable and what kind of Shinobi made them acceptable....
