Okay so I picked up a 3-1 volume for One Piece and it comes with volumes 7,8 and 9. This is where Sanji comes aboard and they go to Fisherman Island, should I go back and get earlier volumes or am I good where I'm at and just go ahead with the story from where I left off which is volume 9?

Why would you not read something from the start? :| Whether it is bad or good will be your opinion, but I think that you should.
Well I was at a Anime convention and it was only $5 so yeah that's why I didn't get volume 1-6 yet :( though I will say! Even though this is what 1998 or 1999 One Piece it was pretty awesome! I enjoyed the artwork a lot and the story was nice and I'm pretty interested in what happens next :yay:

In order to feel the story, I would recommend to start from the beginning and catch up.
I suppose I should get volumes 1-6 huh? I'm liking what I'm reading so far so why not.

You still could have read them online and bought the volumes at a later stage for the stuff you were unable to purchase.

Because it's shitty and should be avoided.

OT: Do not read volumes 1-6.

In fact, don't read anything past volume 9. After finishing it, drop the series.
Whoa Lol ummm you hate One Piece or something? :erm: I honestly enjoyed what I read so far.

Well it came to One Piece I really didn't want to start reading it online and looking at crappy translations or ugly scans especially the beginning so I waited. I'll get volumes 1-6 then, it wouldn't feel right leaving them out.

Fair enough, though they aren't that bad. :| *********** is pretty clean for the most part too.

Read from the beginning every part of the Arc is very Important . You cannot miss any part of One Piece because even Small Character have really big role in upcoming Arcs.

That makes One Piece one of the best Manga out there .

*********** does look good, but I'm the type to where I gotta own a story I'm interested in and luckily One Piece is one of them. And gobb...that's you!?! :yay:

Wait so you want to skip 50 volumes of the series? Uh no
I know :( but I'm going to make up for that and buy the past volumes.

Fair enough. Maybe try like Rightstuf, Amazon, or Ebay or something for cheap volume. hmm

Though shipping might be pricey depending on location.

Fishmanbisland starts in volume 61 and 62

What you read was Arlong Park Arc

And yes I recommend you read from the beginning

Glad you're reading the actual volumes, the online scans suck in comparison

Also, OP just keeps getting better and better, the real story starts on chapter 100 (titled "the legend begins"), what you read was still set up, if you like Arlong Park you're gonna LOVE One piece.

Also, avoid spoilers (don't look at any avatars or sigs in this section) and enjoy the story :)

There are some pretty important parts before meeting Sanji.

You'll be missing out on Coby, Usopps recruitment, Luffy and Shanks interaction from his youth (not MANDATORY to read, but it adds to the value of the War Arc at the end), and Buggy.
