Probably because it was supposed to be portrayed with a high speed battle over a large area with multiple explosions, and that wasn't done since Naruto vs Sasuke, and even then they were still gliding on water.

people here are plainly naive and just don't know a thing about animation,and talk as if they are all knowing.

it was superb,actually it is one of the most popular type of animation style. Though i will say the animators went overboard with 2 or 3 facial expression taking 20 sec. of entire ep.
