Sometimes logical doesn't even happen anymore with Kishimoto. We all should of realized this a long time ago, especially when the first Chapter of the Gaiden came out. Even Mitsuki has a fair chance at getting Hawk summons too at this point haha.
@Blue: The movie's plot felt like a big lesson for Boruto to reconcile with his father, and Sasuke being his master was a tool to achieve that, it really felt like it was a very short skit that was more philosophical and disciplinary rather S actual training. Boruto didn't gain anything other than some shuriken skills, he still developed his clones and Rasengan throughout the movie, he has his own style which is similar to his father's. They called each other master and student later because of it's sentimental meaning in connecting the 3 of them (Naruto, Sasuke, Boruto - Father/Master, Son/Student) in the scene.
The Movie felt more rushed then it needed to be, even the Chunin Exams where they showcased their skills was short. So I didn't really expect there to be large amounts of training to be seen from the get go. But it's still early for that anyway. Most of Jiraiya's training came after the Exams for Naruto when he met him after Pt. 2 of the Examinations.
Anyway. The Movie was about Naruto and Boruto, so yeah. Though since there is no real disclosure on it itself, we can't really say for certain. All we do know is that the last interaction was Sasuke telling Boruto to trust in his master, and Boruto saying that he would. That's the last time they talk together.
Sasuke did talk about Boruto to Naruto after they defeated Momoshiki, but after that scene it "ends" and it turns into "what happens after." For some reason I doubt that Kishimoto would end it based on Boruto's goal. Though since he left it out in the opinion and didn't touch on it, he'll do what he wants as a writer. There's no continuation for Boruto or Naruto, so I understand why he didn't disclose their bond.
Maybe they'll talk about in Jump Festa this year? I heard the VA's will be attending. Not sure on Kishimoto yet. But their words have been proven to mean shit ever since the Sakura VA interview :lol
Their encounter in the movie was to allow Boruto to admire and adopt Sasuke's philosophy the same way Sarada did with Naruto in Gaiden. But in the end they are their parent's kids and they are quickly becoming new versions of their parents, Boruto like Naruto (his sister like Hinata) and Sarada like both Sakura and Sasuke, (the extent of 'Sasuke' is left open-ended and depends on what follows.)
Weird how they advertised Team Konohamaru on the fact that Boruto is the Naruto, Mitsuki is the Sasuke, and Sarada is the Sakura. Like, themes like this are always rehashed, and sometimes it's not always the best idea. Though honestly I think Sarada is supposed to represent more of Sakura than Sasuke. I base this on the fact that her overall character was stated to be more like Sakura personalty wise, but when it comes to her outside features she is like Sasuke. Even her anger, stated by Naruto too, was like her mother's. Her abilities are a bit stretched out to be aligned with Sakura's too, as in the CES, but thankfully she has the Sharingan (and Shuriken Jutsu).
They may have character aspects and traits of their parents, or like Boruto who has traits of other characters who aren't his parents, or Mitsuki who needs to be fleshed out more, but that's the general consensuses going on. I do like the fact that Sarada wants to follow the Naruto/Hokage path, and Boruto wants to follow the Sasuke/Shadow path. It was a nice touch after-all.
And Himawari is definitely not Hinata.
@Bold: Lol, Boruto's novel doesn't say he leaves again. In the movie he's shown with Sakura and then with her and Sarada as well, in the novel they just add "he smiles and disappears in the shadow", it actually talks about him living in the village earlier in the novel, but nothing about him leaving.
@Red: He actually changes his mind at the end of the same novel and goes back home.
The movie marked the end of his mission and Boruto did not give him a chance by approaching him soon after he returned to the village. Now that Boruto's issues are settled and he has nothing else to do, the only thing I can see him doing is training Sarada. But it's open-ended so people can think whatever they want.

Sasuke looked over the two of them, and gave a smile that he never showed anyone but Sakura. Then, he disappeared into the darkness again.

It implied that he disappeared into the darkness. What darkness? Who knows, it may even directly imply his S/T jutsu which looks like darkness. But he did leave. Not sure where though.
The point the novel is making is that it said he disappeared into the darkness "again" -- That's the important part. Did he ever leave the Village before for a long time, or it is implying something else that the reader should know about? I think it's pretty obvious.
