Because the series is deeply dependent on a timeline. Meaning, if you don't know what during the Third Shinobi World War, you won't understand certain villains' motives.

Most of them are fillers. Which are episodes(That are not in the manga) that are made to make space between the manga and anime that way the anime doesn't catch up to the manga.

Read the manga if you want. Flashbacks are a common occurrence in the show to reveal older information and is usually appears often in Shonen Manga or Anime based off such. It's a bit repetitive but sometimes they're really cool and interesting. I recommend reading the manga but if you want watch thr anime but naturally, when up to date, you'll transition to Manga.

Sum of the fillers are good sum suck. Just like sum manga episodes are all talk sum aren't.
