ok so when a baby is in the womb , it's inside of a liquid and as long as its connected to the umbilical cord it doesn't need lungs to live. So let's say the doctors never cut the cord and let the baby grow up to an adult, would the guy be able to chill underwater for as long as he wanted as long as he was connected to the cord? Would he even grown to be a man with the food from the cord?

Interesting question, I can't say I know the answer. My hypothesis is "no", but we would have to test. Unfortunately, a dumb thing called "morality-based laws" would get in the way of our testing it.

As he grew older, he would need more nutrients to sustain himself.

Clearly not.

It's obvious that there is no space to accommodate a child, never mind an adult in the womb.

lol no.
The baby would need a bigger placenta as it grew. Plus it's not ethical to do such experiments.

after the child is born

If the baby stayed inside post-due date for too long, it'd die. The placenta hardens and then the baby will no longer have access to sufficient nutrients for survival.

It won't be possible as usually after 9 months of pregnancy, hypothalamus of the foetus releases Prostaglandins which initiate the Foetal Ejection reflex, this prostaglandins does 2 things:-
1. initiates uterine contractions, which in turn causes release of oxytocin and labour starts.
2.Acts on placenta which reduces the amt. of progesterone and estrogen (stopping the sustenance of placenta) and starts production of relaxing
Due to all of these labour initiates.

Which inturn ruptures the Extra Embryonic membrane leading to amniotic fluid coming out.(water breaking)

Due to all of these foetus is ejected out, once out he can't survive because of the umbilical cord and has to breathe using his lungs.

Placenta is then ejected out after the foetal ejection.

Sounds like something Orochimaru would do, but no I don't think the host(mother) would be able to provide nutrition required for an adult to survive, also the fact that's it's natural to be seperated from womb after being born clearly suggest it wouldn't work the other way, these things evolved this way for a reason.

Edit: and what the science dude above me said, that.

Seems impossible for that scenario to even happen. Baby would be dead by then (long before that time) and wouldn't grow. Think there was a case where a woman had a dead baby in her for some years.

The cord would simply fall off after it dries.
