If doffy killed corazon in front of laws eyes, the only person who risked everything to save him when he was practically dead, I too would want to kill him at all costs. Which would explain why he's gone to such lengths to bring him down. He even attempted martyr.
This is what law wanted right from the beginning. Becoming a warlord to teaming up with Luffy. That whole take down Kaido was a big bluff to get luffy all excited.
