I REGRET ever watching this anime. I WARN you to not watch it. it is disgustingly...............................addicting!

Honestly the last time I ever watched so many episodes per day was deathnote. like 7-8 episodes when it felt like I was just watching 3 episodes. so most of the pacing and content was enjoyable. in my previous thread I read comments that you got hooked around ep:10. unfortunately for me it didn't happen till 28-30ish. somewhere in the tower of heaven arc. I think it was this
development- it's good. even the first arc that didn't really "Hook" me to the series, I still appreciated the development between gon and killua friendship. it layered it to the point that I found it justified that gon would be so obsessed in saving killua from his family and especially vice-versa. something that is lacked between naruto's obsession to saving sasuke. due to the limit amount of bonding screen time (which is probably why kishi overuses the flashbacks). hxh is even better in the later arcs, even when it does have limited time to develop, it somehow manages to make me care for them really well, it's executed very well for both protagonist and antagonist.
the relevant characters- I couldn't hate a single one. even the characters I thought I would hate or care less about at the beginning I ended up loving the characters, even the ant king and komugi. they had such little screen time and when their ultimate outcome happened I almost teared up over how sad it was. perhaps it was soundtrack that impacted me more during sad scenes. it so god damn good. (who releases this anime? madhouse?)
spider troupe arc. -the intensity and build up of this arc was like the pain arc(naruto) white beard(one piece), chapter black(YYH) and yet it managed to do this so early on in the series which was extremely unexpected and different tone from the first arc. seriously that is insane and impressive, especially the fact that it had less to do with gon and more so kurapika.
fight scenes. - the amount of variety in their abilities never ceased to impressed me. it easily rivals if not surpass naruto and one piece while at the same time had a much more balance system. even specialist wasn't all that overpowered as I originally thought it would be. and the ones that could be technically "broken" with a certain "rule" had a huge repercussion which I loved.
realism- that helplessness feeling in naruto when gokages faced edo madara or strawhats faced kuma kuma? that's exactly what I got from the series. Despite gon's potential, he still was vulnerable. he will lose fights that he SHOULD've lost. something most shonens lack. the series had no effin problem acknowledging the gap between the protagonist v antagonist. and the fights gon did win that he shouldn't had were clearly due to smart thinking or opponent gave up and not powerscaling (except gon v pitou thou) which I liked and even then didn't guaranteed he win. ex: gon v hisoka.
similarities- this is inevitable to be mentioned. yes, no doubt in my mind that naruto series borrowed plot and character abilities/design from HxH. and I don't just mean part 1 naruto, i've seen some that stretched all the way to juubi host madara arc in shippuden but that's just my opinion, you might think it's coincidence. anyway, I bring it up because now I understand where hxh fans are coming from. as a naruto fan, I apologize. but I will say this thou which might rustle you. I think sasuke's "hatred" was better handled than kurapika. it kinda bothers me how kura can been so emotionally devoted to his hatred (stronger than sasuke's believe it or not) but then instantly swap back to happy mode with his friends then go back to full hatred mode. doesn't feel realistic to me. compared to sasuke who openly stated he had to sever his bonds/comfort otherwise it would had weakened his resolve and lose focus in his goal which to me makes logical sense. thou I noticed in the last few episodes kura was ignoring his friends phone calls more often, so maybe he will sever it. I haven't read the manga.
yes yes, I'm sorry about all the naruto and HxH comparisons. but....
- overall. the series is easily 10/10. the only gripe or flaw i noticed (as a first time viewer) was the ant king arc. the content was amazing but it dragged on way toooo long and I am not exaggerating, maybe even worst than one piece. thankfully the conclusion/climax made up for it thou to where it's still easily one of the best arcs i've seen in anime. other than that it was perfect. if there were more flaws It was hard to detect due to overwhelming emotional feels.
