It's up there. Unlike other characters, Gaara's pain literally caused him to become crazy. IMO I think it's worse for a kid to believe their parents hate then and want them dead than it is lose a parent that they know loves them. Just in my opinion though.

I agree that is bad. Remember it was not just a single day Gaara was faced with his reality. It had to have spanned at leader from the time his uncle died slightly before the chunin exam (when orochimaru killed and replaced his dad). Not only having being hated by perhaps the one person alive who should love him, he was hated by an entire village. There was no escape from this hatred from anyone really. And that's from a young age (at most 5 or 6) until recent events.

Not taking away his value as a character he told Naruto he was all alone when he had his brother and sister there the whole time caring for him but he gave them a blind eye his brother and sister cared for him even though he had a beasts inside of him not just Naruto Gaara just failed to realize that.

His brother and sister were forced to put up with him but were genuinely afraid that he would kill them. They only got close are began truly caring for him after the chunin exam. Before that they simply appeased him to keep him from killing them or others around them.
