[Discussion] I finally finished reading One Piece!

Hello all, my fellow NB members. IT's me, TheCCV, on my new account "KingSmoke" here to finally let you all know--

I did it! I've successfully finished reading One Piece, from Chapter 1 to 741!

I made this new account in honor of that and to abandon that old worn out one I had. And the username was pretty shameful for what it stood for, so I couldn't wait to get past that. And also of course to publicize my favorite character and honor him with this brand new account . But in any case, momma we made it. And here I am.

So ask a guy who just finished reading One Piece, the entire series up to date, in 6 months anything. I'm eager to answer and glad to be here.

Jesus Burgess, yes to the hell it was. It was like a journey of emotions I've never felt with any other manga, and my experience with this fanbase, both online and irl are much better than certain other fanbases.

The characterization for everybody has been amazing.
The flashbacks serve real purposes, and have all been amazing. I loved em all (kind of, except for the Norland one).
Luffy has a powerful charisma for a main character and hasnt lost his charm.
I found my favorite manga character of all time through this manga.
The fan service (which refers to fighting fan service) made me jump out of my seat and scream.
And Oda simply has blessed storytelling abilities, the way he develops an arch is like nothing I've ever seen before. And the manga isn't fight driven. It takes itself genuinely serious with the plot enough for me to care about that as well as the fights.
And the timeskip wasn't wasted on a couple inches in height, a costume color change and some petty 'emotions and will of fire' crap like Naruto gave me. The timeskip here was the real f-ing deal and actually surprised me.

I was ashamed of my last time which began with R. and substituted it with my brothers last name because I wanted to be a part of his family, V. I've recently started taking much pride in my last name and was growing extremely sick of logging in over and over with that last name V. especially after some irl stuff happened between us. :/

Nice job man and Smoker is one of my favourite characters; he is too cool for the marines and I hoped that he would be the Garp to Luffy's Roger but right now Luffy is stronger than him it seems. I like him a lot more than Coby and it would not make sense for someone like Coby to be Luffy's rival.

lol , i just have a 98 % suspicious that you're a AT.

one piece is awesome , just go and see it , but don't stop it in the episode 20 or in 100 + lol. or something like that , people just have to be patient with this anime and give it time , bc if it's in top 1 IS BC OF A REASON LOL ... people said that naruto part 1 was the best , now i know why , now multiply that for 741 chapters straight.

True. However, he was trying to help Law during his fight with Vergo but he did get beat by Doflamingo. I don't know why Smoker had to be humiliated like that. Like he never lost to Luffy during the whole pre-timeskip and now Luffy is stronger while it seems Smoker has plateaued a bit. Coby was weaker than Nami at the beginning and now it looks like he will be the new Garp! Sorry man its just a little hard for me to accept but it is Oda's story and I hope it works out more neatly than what I am imagining.

@Crono: He did have Law on the edge to be completely fair, though I won't try and act like a win isn't a win, and his priority when facing Vergo wasn't to beat him. You could tell by his comments Smoker was using very foolish tactics in that fight and sacrificing himself for Law so that he wouldn't be in his debt any longer. And yeah, he just lost to Doflamingo. But we didn't see how that fight went.

Rhaaaiii, Rhai, but don't lose faith in him just yet. I believe Smoker over time will learn to completely dominate and perfect his Armenant Haki, beyond even Vergo's ability, develop a resistance to Conquerer Haki, and move fast enough to compete with Luffy's reaction time using Observation Haki. After all, in their initial meeting and pair up, he was capable of keeping up with Luffy's G2 speed with ease.

So don't count my man Smoker out yet.

The growth of a character always depends on his ups and downs. For all we know, these defeats could've hit Smoker's confidence to the ground, kicked it a couple of times, spit on it, and left it there for him to pick up later. In other words, I'm certain he's going to change as a person sooner or later.
