I highly doubt Tobi is Izuna for one simple reason and this reason is small things people don't notice. When ever something said is true they will show a scene of it in a flash back(not in all cases obviously). Even if the truth was altered abit. Kinda how Sasuke seeing Itachi killing his own parents and the whole tears running down his cheek thing. In this case, when Tobi tells the story on how Izuna died and it shows a flash back of him dead in a coffin with his eyes covered. This proves that he did indeed die but whether Tobi told the truth on how he died remains hidden. I guess the real Madara has to shed the light on this.

I guess it is plausible, because Izuna was the only other Uchiha equal to Madara.

Izuna never died, he himself made that up.
He was just forgotten by history/people/everyone.
Being forgotten equals being dead, he was always just Madara's shadow that's why he pretends to be him.
If he said: "Im Izuna, Madara's brother" 90% would be like : "wut? who? Madara had brother ?"

We have seen Madara awakened the Rinnegan shortly before his death so even if Izuna did die and that flashback of his body is indeed his body, he could have been brought back by Madara via Rinne Tensei and implanted with new sharingan simple as that.

Its a good theory but we have to remember that Izuna's body was dead and decayed by the time Madara presumably got the Rennigan. If you notice when Nagato used it, the souls were sent back into the bodies of the people that were killed by Pain in Konoha. I think this was the reason he couldn't bring back Jiraiya. I don't know how that tech 100% works though so this is all from memory. Nagato could summon that head and put bodies in it and they return to normal. So I don't know.

I have NO idea why Jiraiya wasn't brought back but MAYBE HE WAS - and kishi is saving this for one of the best surprises of all time. :)

Madara remarks, "looks like that brat Nagato has grown up" meaning he expected to be revived via Rinne Tensei after a fair amount of time by Nagato.
So it wouldn't matter how long he'd been gone.

I'm in a rush, didn't read all posts here... however I have my 2 cents to add....

Think of this... if Izuna had a kid... and both Izuna and his girl had their eyes removed.... The baby would not be missing eyes... why? because the DNA of izuna and the girl both had genetic codes for eyes.... just because they lost and eye, arm or w\e.... doesn't mean the DNA is gone....

Now this applies to the edo revive because....

A human sacrifice is combined with the DNA of someone who died.
The sacrifice "becomes" the revived person... in a sense...

Now yes, the edo was meant to bring back the revived person in the state they were at death (such as missing eyes).... but also remember this....

2nd hokage started the work on this crazy jutsu
Orochimaru took it further than the 2nd (claiming to have perfected it)
And Kabuto took it even further than that with Madara....

So it's easy to say that if Izuna were revived by Kabuto... he would have eyes

My theory is that Madara or Tobi tried to revive Izuna using Zetsu, but they were only successful in re-animating his corpse and restoring it to function (not actually bringing Izuna back to life.... "shell of himself")

Why is obito, shishu, fugaku and even uchiha kagami not edo tensei'd? There is a thread specially made for tobi's identity.

You know that Tobi is made out partially of the white Zetsu and that therefore could mean that he's body needed to be replaced/renewed. I think that there is a possibility of Tobi being Izuna.

Tobi could be someone that nobody actually knew and his story is yet to be introduced.

I think Tobi is Izuna, after Izuna died in battle, Madara merged him with Zetsu stuff and it brought him back to living.

Yeah Izuna is'nt in the edo tensei and he was really strong i totally agree. .......

Btw, neither is Sakumo Hatake, the legendary White Fang of the Leaf.

OR, Mito Uzumaki, the 9tails 1st jinchuriki also a powerhouse.

So by your logic these 2 should also be considered to be Tobi then lawl

You don't need a separate thread for adding an extra (one line) argument in an old theory.

Izuna died long before Madara.. So there's a chance that they were unable to obtain any of his DNA because there was simply none left.

because he died without his eyes, as shown he was put into his coffin missing his eyes, and edo tensei get revived in the same state they died in
also izuna used to be madara's equal before he gave his eyes to his brother, after that madara got EMS and after that he activated rinnegan.

Izuna wasn't revived because he lost his eyes BEFORE he died. And the Edo Tensei revives you back in the same state before you died. ^_^

Wrong, as shown with Itachi, he had still his MS and he was not affeced by his illness. Edo Tensei resurrects a person when that person was in his or her prime. Read the manga properly, you smart asses.

Ya i 2 thought that...But as told by Tobi Madara took izuna's eye but being izuna he might have lied.... but have u not realised that when sasuku saw tobi's sharingan first amaterasu as planned by itachi was activated which means it must be izuna with Madara's eye...

Yeah pretty much its Izuna isnt it.... Unless its someone else with Madaras eyes.... We should make a bet thread on this.

Fair enough can you at least answer the question?

Why is Izuna not in the Edo Tensei?

Because he's worthless. Kabuto brought back the strongest ninja he could find from the past, not the weak ones.

Edo Tensei brings back the dead in the way they were at the time of their death. When he died, Izuna didn't have any eyes and he was blind. Kabuto would not need or want an Uchiha with no eyes.

^ This sums up the point of this thread. I consider the discussion closed because this answers my question. Thanks for the input everyone. Strong as he was we can consider that Kabuto would assume he'd still be blind and thus useless.
