Why wouldn't they be in supportive roles? This is a battle manga...women IRL are inferior when it comes to fighting so why would women be the strongest in fiction? Not to mention Kaguya is a women. Women in shonen belong in their rightful place, support for the male characters.

1. You are misreading the post. I was simply stating as it is.

Whether a woman is good at fighting or not is subjective and depends on many factors even in RL( is it a fist fight or snipping from distance?, Close combat like wrestling or getting into strategic fights to compensate for difference in physical strength etc) and in a magical/fantasy ability scenario it means little - not that I was particularly demanding for it at the moment.

3. I am not the one crying over Sakura not being able to match with Naruto and Sasuke. However I wish Kishi had worked a little more for his own story's sake. He developed some really great characters like Orochimaru, Jiraiya, Itachi, Danzou...even those who came up for a very little screen time like Hanzou got better closer than main female characters in the series and that's something which sticks out as a sore thumb. Whatever the reasons maybe, Sakura didn't turn out that impressive as she could have been, if Kishi was able to pull off the idea he had in mind.

I kind of understand that from theoretical POV he made Sakura one of the best out there and good enough to justify her place in team 7. She made a great progress seeing her humble background and lack of KG or clan techs like others. She is one of the best medics on the field and only Kabuto and Tusnade may challenge her for the crown. And yet it doesn't work that well because Kishi created a situation where she needed more panels to explain things from her POV and then didn't add them. The promise was there but it wasn't utilized well.

In my view kishi should have gotten rid of the crush she had on sasuke since part 1. This would give her character some more room to develop not every character has to get hitched and have kids but even if kishi wanted that he could have made her fall for sasuke at the end maybe after 699.

I kind of agree with you here. My biggest annoyance with Sakura was her obsession with what Sasuke thought of her. I honestly had hoped the "cruch" had ended when she resolved to kill him herself. Her goal was to not let Naruto shoulder the burden of brining Sasuke back alone. I thought that was a noble goal.

But in the end she couldn't do it and "surprise" needed saving again. Had she kept with this resolve it would have been nice to see a Sasuke VS Sakura battle, which could have, in turn, led to further development of her character and abilities.

WOuld have been nice if Kishi had also played on her original genjutsu type and had someone teach her genjutsu...Like Itachi. She could have had a run in with alive or edo itachi at some point where he would recognize her feelings for Sasuke, learn she is a genjutsu type and pass some of his mastery of this on to her before dying/dying again.

This could have split her from just being another replica of Tsunade and given her some growth of her own. Could you imagine casting a field wide genjutsu while healing the alliance. It would have added volumes to her character abilities already.

Men and woman being related to some sort of extended, non confirmed pairing ruined them.

We have exceptions like Shikamaru/Temari, but for the most part Kishimoto destroys characters with long continued romance, rather than short completed one's. He's ruined both the Mc's, the self proclaimed heroine, and the movie heroine. All because of cheap romance that didn't even need to be there because it's not an important piece to the story.

Characters would of been better off without their significant other unless the romance was developed into actual feelings for both of them at some point when it made sense, biggest example being when Hinata confessed her love to Naruto, and then he didn't realize his feelings until after the Manga via Movie.

Not even going to touch the dramatic failure of SS right now.

It may have been a crush in the beginning but Sakura has been in life and death situation and fighting along with her team mates for long enough to care more sincerely about them- people justify Karin's obsession over a single incident.. The curse mark Sasuke got had augmented on the feeling of caring along with his history. Naruto and she neither gave up on him and I think that's what Kishi was going for. A family forged out of friendship and caring - two people who had seen worst of Sasuke and yet accepted him back giving him someone to come back to Konoha. Now of course it could be written better...

Yes it was a noble goal but killing Sasuke was not going to happen... When Sakura went for that it was a suicide mission. At best Naruto would have surely lost one of the team mates- even if she magically succeeded. That was the point of confession- to reduce the blow. Even if she would have succeeded, Naruto could be probably losing them both. There was no win situation. And Naruto saw it through and that's why it stung so much for Naruto. He got what he wished for a long time but he knew it was a lie because he knew Sakura.

The whole scenario was more of a set up to show the state of mind Sasuke was in, to Naruto and to help him make up his mind. Otherwise this was the stupidest idea Shikamaru the genius had come up with. More stupid that his rescue Sasuke strategy first time around. Sending a team of small team to kill Sasuke and not even considering how strong Sasuke was at the moment and whether he had companions..good thing Sakura left them behind.

Would it have been better if Sakura changed her mind ? Maybe but for that too Kishi would have needed to pay more attention to expand her character. Instead she was used to give Sasuke a family connection back to village.

Sakura with genjutsu would have been a second Kurenai. After making Sharingan so OP that beat Kurenai within minutes it's not of much use. Most of the kids are a copy of their father or teachers, not just Sakura. Shikamaru has his father's ability. Minato was so much like Naruto that Kishi cut his hands off to keep him away from the fight. He kept him around only for Father Son time at the end. Kishi wrote himself into a corner with Sakura; he neglected her for too long, especially in Part 1, while other characters received excellent development. In a Shounen manga, character development is often accompanied by a power-up; in other words, even as Sakura became less and less relatable and interesting as a character, she also became too weak to meaningfully contribute to the plot. The end result was that fans didn't even want to see more Sakura, so Kishi couldn't find room to squeeze in an arc dedicated to Sakura (although in hindsight, that was short-sighted of him; he should have invested time into making her a better character).

In the end, that meant that she was relegated to being a sidelines healer/cheerleader, with very little to define herself as a character other than her relationships to the two main boys. And of course, since Sakura wasn't out actually being involved in the plot, that meant that most of her relationship to Naruto/Sasuke was based on Part 1 interactions and the fact that she was nominally a part of Team 7; it was superficial.

Kishi could have given Sakura her own backstory, or a training arc in which she truly comes into her own. He could have added depth to her feelings towards Sasuke, or at least given her enough panel time to provide context for her feelings. The sense we get, reading the manga, is that the feelings sortof come from nowhere, and are just thrown in and taken for granted. They're superficial, just like the rest of Sakura's character.

At the start of Part 2, Sakura had potential. Everyone constantly hyped her to be a ninja who would surpass Tsunade. She got to really show her skills off against Sasori, and looked awesome. After being a dud for all of Part 1, Sakura looked pretty cool at the start of Part 2.

That all went down the drain as soon as she reunited with Sasuke. From that point on, Naruto began his Rasenshuriken training, Sakura was no longer central to missions (remember when she and Naruto were basically a platonic duo at the start of Part 2?), and Sakura was basically forgotten.

It's easy to see instances where Sakura could have been involved in the plot. Imagine if she had contributed during Pain's invasion? She could easily have replaced Choji/Choza and been the one to assist Kakashi. She could have revealed her slug summons to help heal villagers, rather than pulling that move out of nowhere 200 chapters later. After the Pain fight, she could have gone along with Naruto/Kakashi to help persuade the Kage Summit not to execute Sasuke; instead, we got Kishi's awful attempt at giving her an arc by (1) having her confess her fake love to Naruto, and (2) fail at taking Sasuke's life. That was basically when it became clear that Kishi was out of touch with regards to writing Sakura, because his half-baked efforts just hurt her character.

It just sucks that literally every major character, besides Sakura, got flasback chapters that essentially establish their character. Sakura never did; the most we got was backstory on her relationship with Ino, and all we learned is that Ino taught Sakura to be confident in her large forehead.

It sucks that Sakura was never done justice. Kishi really showed his limits as an author when it came to writing her.

I'll bite. You're right. It's not as if Naruto had to train at Mt. Myoboku for SM or spend years with Jiraiya learning how to master up to 3/4 tails on the Kyuubi cloak/ brush up on his basics because Kurama messed up his natural development via chakra disruption. He definitely didn't secretly train to throw his FRS either. He didn't learn to use summons or synchronized jutsu with them. It's not as if Naruto spent days on end training to use rasengan for his bet with Tsunade. It's not as if he went under 100 times the training if anyone else training for FRS using multi shadow clones. He totally didn't go all the way to the clouds hidden island and learn how to control his tailed beast from their jinchuuriki. He didn't learn how to make a tailed beast bomb while he was there too btw.
