I dont understand the hate smo characters recieve...

Every day i check out the base, there are more and more people who seem to enjoy bashing characters. Now, most of these are trolls, but I recently found some people who i thought were sensible enough to not hate a manga character, actually express negativity in a very, may i say, hostile, manner. And I just cant understand that
