I do not understand your question.
'Relationships' does not think, the term 'relationship' does not display a living being so it can not think.
Relationships exists in so many different forms, example enemy, friend and lover. How relationships work however can not truly be proven in my beliefs, only experienced. In my experiences it is something to do with energy. You get energetic feelings towards a person, and it could basically be anything, however we describe them in different groups, either as friend or enemy (or something else). When you for an example have a friend with you, you normally get the energetic feeling that you can trust that person more than just an unknown person, you have an easier time laughing with your friend than with an unknown person. When you have an enemy you get the energetic feeling of "I rather smell my underwear than talking with you." etc etc.
Relationships is only a word that says that you have a connection with someone else, it does not need to be big but something. You do not say that you have a relationship with an unknown person.
Relationship can also be seen as another word for 'bound'.
