Madara was throughout portrayed to be a character "possessed by evil" as stated by Tobirama. He had way too much Love and that Love turned into Hate. Madara had alot of love and respect for his brothers but they were all killed by the Senju. He began to loathe the Senju even more by the time he awakened his EMS so it became clear that he was hateful of the opposing clan.
Hashirama shows his "good side"
So why did he stop Hashirama? When he was laying on the floor and Tobirama was about to finish him, Hashirama stopped him from hurting his friend.
Hashirama makes the Decision
Hashirama wants to make peace. However, Madara has a condition. In order to gain his trust and make it even, Hashirama must either kill himself or his brother, Tobirama. If any of this happened, it would have shown how Madara truly is a sinister character and then perhaps things would've been different.
Madara shows his "good side?"
Hashirama was just about to kill himself as well, or rather sacrifice himself I would say. He was in a way appointing Tobirama to be the Hokage after his death. But suddenly, Madara displayed a "good gesture" and stopped Hashirama before the sharp point of the kunai touched his body.
Eternal peace could've been achieved
Why did Madara do it? Does it mean that seemingly Madara actually had some good left inside of him and would've followed the "Will of Fire" in order to create the peaceful world him and his childhood friend once dreamed of? Was there another shinobi responsible for Madara becoming "evil again"?
Do you think the alliance between Uchiha and Senju could've been sustained if not for a certain someone? :dunno:
