I agree that it really doesn't make so much sense. I could stretch it until it made sense with plenty of reasons, but it just didn't seem outright necessary to introduce this now of all times.

For me it doesn't matter though, it was just Minato doing a last ditch effort and he's not one of my favorite characters, so it didn't ruin it for me or even make much of an impact. I think this is one of those things to just look at the surface of and move on. I don't really get it either though

I may have the opinion there is not a character named sakura in the manga. But in fact there is a character named sakura in the manga. Or I may have the opinion that naruto is from the uchiha clan. But in fact he is not. ETC.

Saying Minato haveing sage mode is very similar. There was nothing in the plot that contradicts him being able to have sage mode. As such it is not a plot hole. (as the entire point of a plot hole, is that it somehow contradicts itself.)

You need a lot of chakra to be able to use SM or rather a body that is able to tolerate it. Now Minato has unlimited chakra and it logical that he can use SM too. One explanation to why he didn't use it earlier is that Kurama wouldn't let him, Naruto couldn't mix the modes until after he got Kurama's permission to do so.

As someone said before. Why use all your bullets right away in the last clip you have? Plot is a reason he didn't use it right away. Suspense, being surprised, epicness, not really needing to use it since Naruto already mastered it better then him... what was the point. He was basically just watching Naruto fight and letting him take care of everything.

Minato and Tobirama made Naruto and Sasuke the main stars by making them take the lead... I would say Minato was amazed by Naruto's progress as a ninja that in such a way he made Naruto do most of the work. Or rather you guys could be right this was an asspul XD lol damn I dunno how to answer your question.
