2 things I know abut kakashi:
1. Generally, everyone he fights is pretty much way stronger than him. Itachi. pein, kakuzu( I believe at the time he was stronger than kakashi but not by alot), Tobi, sasuke (even though the fight didnt last, I love kakashi but I think if sasuke wouldn't have just fought danzo, he would have been done for.)
2. If you beat him once and he lives, shame on you because you probably won't beat him again. I think this would be true in evey case mentioned above except tobi (even though I think kakashi now has a way of hitting him.) Even though the clone of itachi he fought was only 30% of his chakras, the databook and other sources state zetsu clones retains all of the original abilites and fighting style/tactics. I think his plan would still have worked to a degree. (Where the 30% clone of itachi put a clone of kakashi in genjutsu.)
With all this said lets think about his fight against Zabuza. Both jonin, and imo they were both on the same EXACT level. But if you notice at the beginning of the fight- zabuza creates mist and creates a water clone. Kakashi sees him and creates a water clone as well. Zabuzas water clone attacks and kakashis water clone the attacks his making it dissapate. What kakashi didnt see was zabuzas 2nd water clone he made, which then goes on to attack to destroy kakashis water clone. The real kakashi came behind the 2nd water clone thinking the fight was over. Surprise. Zabuza had made 2 water clones.
For a man with no KG, super power (gates,lightning armor.tailed-beast), and no true super weapon (samehada), zabuza is a genius,who imo was on the same intellectual level as kakashi, and thats saying alot. If he was alive and had the part 2 powerscale, hed be a force to be reckoned with.
