Madara was an Edo Tensei, this part as I understand it means that it is simply his soul trapped within the body of of a vessel. So it is not his body it is an unknown sinobi who may or may not have any connection to madara (99.9999% sure he isn't lol). This brings me to my question, How in the 7 hells is madara alive right now? I get that Rinne Tensei no Jutsu brought him back but from just his soul? When Nagato used it to restore the village it made it seem as though he was returning their souls to their bodies.... It's probably just PNJ but it's starting to bug me.

O.t.: Gedo Art of Rinne Rebirth was used to revive him, lucky his soul was in that vessel (he also was able to cling on to that body after the Impure Resurrection was released), so he probably did the same when he was revive or he was just revive in that state as he was close to Obito

Rinne Tensei can revive anyone. Since Kabuto used Hashirama's DNA and probably Madara's body, it could have been possible.

Edo Tensei just covers the sacrifice in the ashes and transforms them into the person being Revived. Logically, theres some poor shmuck who annoyed Kabuto inside Madara. It should have brought that guy back to life rather than Madara, because when Edo Tensei is removed the ashed crumble off and you can clearly see the sacrifices body.

Madara made Obito use the technique to revive him, not the sacrifice.

Rinne tensei only requires DNA, not the whole body. Edo tensei also requires DNA, which was used to make Edo Madara. Becuase it had his DNA, rinne tensei could be used on that body. It's not PnJ....

Also, that'd severely limit the jutsu. That would mean it's useless if the body is blown to bits in an explosion or something, it would only work if the body is in tact. What if the body is bones? It only takes about a year for a body to be reduced to skeleton (although it depends on environmental factors). <---- That would be so brilliant of Madara, wouldn't it? I'm sure he didn't expect Obito to gather the bijuu that fast.


Not to mention there were probably some shinobi whose bodies were not in very good shape after that explosion. I wouldn't call it a plothole though, we don't really know how the jutsu operates.

Edo Tensei uses a living corpse for the soul of the dead to inhabit. Rinne Tensei allows the dead to live again. (but are souls and spirits the same thing?) idk but w.e. This is the first time Edo Tensei summon was hit by a Rinne Tensei. Its weird and hasn't been explained . The soul inhabits the edo tensei body so that means the sacrifice becomes the body of the soul. So the soul has now the body of the sacrificed corpse.

ot: I wondered if when Obito used Rinne Tensei on Edo Madara, Madara's soul would return to his body in the cave. Based on something Kabuto said, Obito thought Orochimaru had already been gathering info about Zetsu(or hashi's senju dna). Hashirama's cells are living (even after he dies I think, how else could Danzo use them?)

Kabuto already knew about Zetsu when he met Obito , so He & Oro probably already got Madara's corpse from his underground cave, and used Zetsu/Hashirama's dna/cells to give Madara's corpse "life" or "living cells" and "fused" them into each other, so in a way his body was living just without a conscience.(conscious ?)

So Madara's corpse was used as his sacrifice for his soul to re-inhabit for the Edo Tensei summoning.
but wasn't really explained..(maybe kishi didn't think of an explanation.)

You use a substituted person you kill them use DNA from the person you want and exchange the soul of the person you killed for the soul of the person you want.
