So Obito wants to bring peace to the earth through a genjutsu, but he kills a ton of people before its even cast. If he kills everyone besides the strongest shinobi then what's the point?

my personal problem with Obito is all of his motivations all go back to Rin. When he was kid he wanted to make the world a better place for Rin. When Kakashi killed Rin, Obito lost all sense of his self, making him easy to manipulate. Then when he betrays Madara all he thinks about is Rin.
Most villains have multiple starting points to each motivation. Sasuke: inferiority complex with Naruto and Itachi, as well as his need to seek revenge until recently. They are two independent motivations since one clearly predates the other as Sasuke was soon to have inferiority complex before the massacre.
Madara; his inferiority complex with Hashirama, Hashirama's and his clan's supposed betrayal, and what was revealed in the recent chapter.

Tell me what there is to argue here...If anything his argument is a nothing but a fallacy, obito is not doing this for the shinobi, he despises the shinobi system, he's doing this for the world. He doesnt care how many shinobi die, the more the merrier in his mind because that's one less person who has to potential to spread the hatred which he is trying to stop.

The shinobi are merely in his way, they are obstacles to him. His goal revolves around eradicating all shinobi from the world anyways, why does it matter if he kills more shinobi?

Another point, he refers to this world as the "fake" world, nothing in the physical world has any meaning to him anymore, the people are of no meaning either. The only people who hold any real value to him are the ones who are created inside the genjutsu.

thats hardly many. its a mere fraction compared to the utter chaos thats been going on long before he was born. look at the world existing before the shinobi villages. your saying that obito isnt justified in atrocrities despite his goal being to stop them? ever heard of ends justify the means? his end will mean that all of his actions wont mean anything, and he will be a god no matter what the past was. his actions were all so he could obtain the bijuu anyway. thus wiht bijuu powers, everyone who died can come back
