I Did It Out of Love

Chapter 4/ Part I: The Culprit

"The possession of knowledge does not kill the sense of wonder and mystery. There is always more mystery" - Anais Nin

It had been a week since the the last time I saw that mysterious women. I woke up early because of the late night thunderstorm and stayed up till school started. During that time I pondered on how the killer was able to commit some many murders, but remain unknown to the press, public, and authority.

"It just doesn't add up" I said to myself.

I got out of bed, grabbed the map of Okinawa and began to see where the murders took place.

"So... The first murder was in Kaiho Park, then Kuroshio park and last Tuesday in front of the Arakaki Hospital, not a park"

My mother knocked on my door for me to get ready for school.

"Kazami, time for school" she said.

"Mom... I think I'm sick" I pretended to sound contaminated. "I don't think I can go to school"

There was pause for a while so I thought she agreed, but then she kicked my door down.

"Kazami..." She said with a serious tone while slowly walking up to me. "When mommy says it's time for school, mommy means get up and get ready for school, now!"

"Oh, would you look at that, I don't feel so sick anymore" I responded in shock.

"That's what I thought" she left the room while I got ready.

Later that day

After I left geometry class, I went to the bench outside of the building for fresh air and think time so I took out my map.

"How can the killer remain unknown, but get back and forth so quickly. The only way is if she was equally distant for all three locations"

Then I noticed something. When I connected the places on the map, I noticed that it created a triangle.

"Ah ha! That must mean that the killer is in the center off the triangle"

I remembered from class how to mid-segment of each segment within the triangle. When I was done I pinpointed the exact location of the house the killer could be.

"Prefectural Route 20!" I got up and ran out of the school yard to my locker and grabbed my jacket.

On the way out the building, I ran into Yashiro, a friend of mine.

"Where are you goin'?" he asked.

"Please, don't tell the teachers. This is really important" I begged him.

"Alrighty, I won't. Anyways, I heard
Kiken has been sick for a while, you think she's alright?"

"Don't worry, Kiken is a warrior. Anyways, see you later" I ran out the building to the bus stop. While I was there, I couldn't stop jumping up and down with excitement thinking that I'd finally get to avenge my father.

When the bus arrived, I happily put my money inside and sat down while humming my favorite song. At the time, I felt invincible.

Then, the bus stopped and dropped me off down the street from my location. As I neared the house, I began to slowly regret coming here.

"I completely forgot!" I thought. "I meant to get the police first!" I slammed my hand on my forehead but decided to proceed anyways.

Once I reached the doorstep I couldn't make myself knock on the door for multiple reasons, one of them is that the lights were turned off. After a while of beating myself up, I finally brought myself to check if the door was unlocked, which it was.

I entered the house and looked around noticing picture frames hung up on the wall with no picture on it. Then, I heard something drop in the kitchen and was suddenly chilled with fear.

I crept into the kitchen and peaked my head around the corner to notice a little girl sitting on the floor picking up pieces of the cup she just broke.

"I know your there" she said while getting up.

"Who are you?" I asked. She turned around to reveal her face. Once I saw it, I was in shock as my heart broke to pieces.

"Come on, Kazami. It's only been a week since you last saw me"

"K-Kiken!?" I yelled.
