I been a member of neoseeker since the 2005, I been debating there so many year, we rarely have trolls and members that resorts to insults. When a member starts insulting then the moderator gets involved.

My rep bar isn't as big as many members, I am not that active so it is normal. But getting neg rep for bad reason isn't good.

You should hit that report button when someone insults you in a post/rep messages etc.

As for bad rep you can PM Zise or make a thread in the private section. If the admins find that it was breaking rules ( had provocative/insulting messages) or given for trollish reasons or to harass someone etc they can remove it and take other actions.

In the early days of NB it was probably useful to determine the people that post higher quality stuff.

But now everyone has a bajilion rep and it means nothing, it's easy to abuse it and it serves no purpose.

Why they put something that serves no purpose? Or maybe the Staff don't tell you the truth. Maybe reputation points is one of the requirement of becoming a Staff member at NB that the Staff don't tell regular members about it, and hide it.

As for purpose these are fancy features as long as used properly by members themselves. It was fun I suppose when members were fewer and we used to rep each other for good posts to show appreciation for the effort put in or some great points some one made etc.

Then there was this Rp village which didn't RP at all but used it to raise post count and rep crazily to gain power indirectly ... then came wave of 2011 members who quickly formed social groups for quick rep to each other and repeat the trick and then...the buttering episode from another elite group ... It ended up turning in to hard to deal with the feature especially since only admins can deal with it. Slowly it lost all the rep for it own self..

I won't say who the member is since I don't want to add more flames to it, but here is the conversation:

Admins have banned people and removed their rep to zero ... all that.. it's just that it needs admin powers to deal with it and the members who were participating in such scratching games were just too many and persistent. Keeping track of such rule breaking takes time and Zise had other things to do. I think at some point he decided that if members were going to be such self centered brats bent on destroying it, then they probably deserve a broken system.

I don't like neg rep since then member will believe I am not a good member. I don't like how rude this member was being to me for no reason, I was being respectful to him yet he resort to being rude and insulting.

Rep doesn't mean shit. You shouldn't concern with how large someones rep bar is. You can be a awful member and still have rep though the roof. Just move on, you're leaving over something this minor! This just means this person who insulted you or whatever got what he wanted. You took the bait.

Maybe so. So how do this new mod will be able to check the private chat groups and skype which is used for asking rep at NB?

So far I am only going about it based on the rumours that too many people have been doing so and admins aren't doing anything. But I don't have any reports. Send me some evidence and I will pester Zise to take an action and hire a new mod to check reports related with rep abuse. But I need enough evidence. I doubt he will pick new mod to check a single case or a rumour only.
