Tobi said that Itachi was the one who wanted to save Sasuke cuz he couldn't kill him cuz of his feelings. He even said that he told to Sarutobi to take care of his brother because he feared Danzo could kill him, and that the reason why he came back to konoha was to prevent Danzo he was still alive, so if he tries something against his brother he could come back and fight to kill him, but in this chapter we actually see that Danzo is the one who didn't wanted to kill Sasuke, since he proposed to spare his life.
I always thought there was weird, cuz if what Tobi said was true, i don't know what could have stop Danzo to kill Sasuke and mask it as if it was a suicide or something like that. Nothing proves Danzo is the one who would have killed him. He could have even die from diseases. How could Itachi know it's Danzo the one who killed him? How could Sarutobi know it?
But now, we understand that Danzo was the one who intended to spare his life. So that also means that Tobi lied at that moment, right?
