Are we talking about Jonin Neji or are we in the time when Asuma was alive? We didn't get to see much of Asuma I think, but from what we did see if that was his full strength, I vote for Jonin Neji. If it's past Neji....you know what I'd still vote for Neji because they're both close combat and Asuma isn't fast enough to get around to exploit Neji's blindspot. Which wouldn't matter anyway cos Neji would still see him...idk how Asuma would beat him honestly.

Considering that, in the most current databook, Asuma is higher/equal in all stats compared to Neji, I see it being an interesting matchup. Neji's main style of fighting would actually prove to be inconvenient considering the Chakra-Infused Taijutsu Asuma uses proves lethal to near anybody. Asuma's intelligence as well as his strength advantage are his most valuable assets, besides of course his experience.

I see Asuma taking this high-difficulty simply due to his experience and his more broad skillset.

Asuma. He's much more battle experienced then Neji and he has both Wind and Fire by his side. Not to mention that Asuma is more experienced with Kenjutsu then Neji.
