Hyuuga Clan Origin [Theory]

This theory explains why the Byakugan is considered one of the 3 great dojutsu along with rinnegan and sharingan,also the Hyuuga connection to Rikudou sennin.
At the start of the manga Kakashi mentioned that in the Hyuuga clan lies the origin of the Uchiha clan. Well i think this is partialy true, the name Hyuuga means "Towards the sun ", the main power of the Byakugan is the insightfull vision at nearly 360 degrees. This powerfull viewing ability comes from the "light" in the eyes, we have seen with the sharingan that when the "light" in the eyes start to fade the vision and ability of the dojutsu gets worse and worse :



Rikudou sennins older son had the first version of the Sharingan, after him suposedly came the Uchiha clan but i think there might be more to the story then that.....

The only way i can explain as to why the MS looses its "light" the more its being used is by adding the Juubi into this theory. Yes i belive its Juubi's evil chakra that is mixed with the chakras of the Uchiha clans ancestors that causes the blindness effect. In order to awaken the MS one must experience negative emotions, this stimulates Juubi's chakra just like when Naruto gets angry he tapps into Kyuubi's chakra.
Perhaps the first Hyuuga was one of the first Uchihas and somehow the remains of Juubi's chakra were sealed along with his dojutsu that comes from Juubi's eye, that gave the eye infinite light and turned it into Byakugan.
So besically the Hyuugas lost the sharingans prediction ability, the jutsu copy ability and the MS but instead they gained a dojutsu that carries no risk when its used. Because of this they were forced to specialize in Taijutsu and Sealing jutsu instead of Ninjutsu and Genjutsu.

hmmm interesting theory. I also agree that in some very general way the sharingan and byakugan are connected. I mean there are only 3 eyes and 2 are linked with eachother (sharingan and rinnigan) I can only assume that the byukagan should be linked there somewhere as well.

Before i get into this just because it is called one of the great three doesn't mean it has to come from the sage.

Dojustu are just powers located in the eyes.

Your reading too much into it.

It was one of the great three because it is a powerful and recognized dojustu and nothing more.

The only time it as ever brought up that the hyuuga clan had a possible connection to the uchiha kakashi said

"Some people believe that the sharingan is a derived form of the byakugan"

The key words are "Some" & "Believe"

Meaning not everyone thinks so and that it is a theory that cannot be backed up.

And ever since it has never been brought up again.At all.

Now for your explanation.

I believe it would make sense.

Nobody has ever brought up the negativity of the juubi manifesting in chakra to make a case for the byakugan origin theory.

Actually i haven't read a single theory that was good regarding their origins at all.

Until now anyway.

I wish kishi would at least hint at it.

That way your theory would either gain more credit or be debunked.

Here's my spin on it, which basically reflects your idea.


First off, Hagoromo had his Elder and Younger son. As we know, the Elder son gained the ocular powers of the Sage. Unlike any seen EMS or MS for that matter, the Elder Son's eyes did not have a singularly defined eye, or a ring of black between them. His instead, was a swirl pattern that reflects the Uzumaki Clan symbol. Based on that, plus the fact his eye derives directly from the Byakugan, I'm under the prefix that his eye is a stage between EMS and the Rinnegan: The Elder Son's Dojutsu.


We've also seen that the Sharingan ocular base is reflected in the Juubi. This most likely means that part of it's influence went into the Rinnegan of Hagoromo, and thus the two eyes fused and resulted in this Elder Son Dojutsu. Moving on the Hyuga.


First and foremost, let's look at Kakashi's two key statements. 1) It is said the Sharingan's origins lie from the Byakugan (close enough). 2) They belong to the Hyuga Clan, Konoha's oldest clan.


1) This gave the idea of the clans having an original progenitor: Hagoromo. It also suggest that both eyes would derive from the same ocular connection: The Elder Son Dojutsu.

2) Despite the fact he said it is rumored Uchiha and Hyuga have relations, he said for a fact the Hyuga are Konoha's oldest clan. There was no rumor about it. We know for a fact, that they weren't even one of the first four do found or desire to join up (Uchiha, Senju, Akimichi, and Sarutobi). We also know the time gap between the foundation and the present manga is somewhere around Hiruzen's life span which honestly isn't that long: meaning some degree of tangible knowledge would exist on history. So why then would the Hyuga be labled the Oldest clan of Konoha?! Simply put, because of the clans in Konoha, they are the oldest clan: older than Senju and Uchiha.


The first question might be how so. My guess is as follows. It is never specifically said the Elder Son and the Younger son formed Uchiha and Senju. In fact, it is said their descendants became known as Uchiha and Senju. Descendants is a very vague term. It could be their children, it could be a decade, it could even be half a millennium before they were recognized as Uchiha and Senju.

Just before giving my final opinion, let me make a note about the Sharingan.

As we know, Elder and Younger constantly have battled throughout history. From what we've seen of the Uchiha story wise, most members generally rivaled and hated the Senju. Many are prideful and grew strong from hatred. However, we also know the true power of the Sharingan supposedly comes from Love. Love was what made it evolve. Hatred could be seen as an opposite to Love, and as such, one could theorize hatred can cause a de-evolution in power.

My bet is, the Elder Son's dojutsu continued to de-evolve over the generations as hatred and bitterness existed between Elder and Younger. Elder Dojutsu ==> EMS ==> MS ==> 3, 2, and 1 Tomoe ==> and finally just burnt out and empty black eyes.

In order to regain the lost power, the Uchiha had to strengthen the idea of love. As the original feelings of the Elder Son for his father and BROTHER would have been love. When Hagoromo died, the Elder Son would have been devastated (similar to the loss of a loved one giving the MS). But equally, when he was looked over for the Younger Son, he must have also felt betrayed. At that point, the Juubi's presence within the combination of the Elder Son Dojutsu most likely caused the initial chain of what became the de-evolution of the Sharingan.


With that said, here's where the Hyuga come into play.

Despite the constant hatred of Senju and pride of the Uchiha, we've had members who would be considered outcasts: Itachi and Shisui. People who didn't give into hate, but instead stood away from it. Itachi was even a pacifist. At some point in the generations of conflict between Elder and Younger Descendants. One Elder Son descendant looked away from the Hatred induced feud, and abandoned the constant fighting: becoming more reserved and reclusive possibly.

As the generations continued to pass on, this descendant's people formed the Hyuga Clan... which ended up being founded before Uchiha and Senju officially formed. With time, his eye also de-evolved (due to flushing out the Juubi's influence as well as branching away from the Sage's powerful body entity), and due to his outlook of looking through or past hatred, his eyes purified to the Byakugan. His eye mutating to play on the concept of insight. Also, with a reserved nature, the eyes would serve to watch as the Uchiha and Senju would quarrel.

Which would make sense noting how the Hyuga tend to act as it's own entity even within Konoha. Notably even being absent to a level during the Kyubi invasion and even to some degree the Chunin Exams invasion.


On the otherhand, the Uchiha continued their hatred, and as I noted, their eyes eventually burnt out. Only those members who focused on the idea of love (the original power and thought of the Eye's holder) could they re-awaken the power it gave.



To summarize, both ended up mutating from the Elder Son Dojutsu. The Hyuga clan resulting form a Elder Descendant who saw through the meaningless hatred of Elder and Younger. Breaking away from his/her family, his/her descendants would establish Hyuga before Uchiha and Senju would be formed. Thus validating the idea of Sharingan and Byakugan relations, and Kakashi's factual like statement that the Hyuga were the oldest clan in Konoha.

Both eyes are related from deriving from the same original eye.
