Hinata was given hamura chakra, a decently sized role in a pairing movie(where the hyuugas "strongest" had to be saved)and still amounted to nothing more than a cliche worried housewife

Nah. The only person who mimicked his powers was Toneri.

The problem lied in the dialogue. Hinata was talking about her being connected to Hamura through blood (Toneri as well) rather than him giving her power. She talked to him, but she was never given any powers.
