The techs being taught only to main family is irrelevant since Neji, a branch member was able to learn them for himself. Their special moves are Jyuken, but that isn't very effective against Pain because he's using dead bodies and are moving because chakra is being transmitted from Nagato. And you're probably right. The Hyuuga can't really do much against Pain specifically, but no one else aside from Naruto could either.

They don't need to be, as it's all about piercing through a flow, whether it's in circular or a singular but in multi-directions, which Raiton armour is as it covers his entire body. It's the exact same thing as Chidori Nagashi. The only difference is that Sasuke uses it for electrocution and he has no where near as much chakra as Raikage, hence the constant flow of chakra and its compression into a Raiton cloak.

If it can pierce such a dense and heavy flow of chakra, then Neji or any other Hyuga's puny reserves fueling the rotation would be like a walk in the park.
