[Discussion] Hypothetical Nagato situation

I was thinking about some alternative outcomes for the Naruto series and I thought of one involving Nagato.

What if Nagato had planned on becoming the Juubi jinchuuriki? Like, after the Akatsuki gathered all the Bijuu, Nagato would turn on Obito and Madara and refuse to rinne tensei Madara then try and kill Obito.

This is just a hypothetical, but do you think he could've done this?

Preta cancels jutsus, including MS jutsus like Kamui, but so far as I know, Nagato didn't have any super speed techniques to contend with it like FTG or lightning armor.

Edit: Actually, scratch that, Madara was able to dodge ftg slash and Konan likely would have shared her knowledge of Kamui's weakness with Nagato.

Obito would slaughter him just for attempting so.

Even kabuto would screw him over by summoning Madara, by then Edo Madara would control Nagato to use rinne tensei.

Yes! If done properly, don't half ass it I'd love to read it, sounds like an interesting concept.

If it wasn't for PIS and story progression
Naruto would've lost against Pein
Pein being the recognized leader would've ordered evryone else to fight obito and would also join the fight
Once obito is down.. Nagato could become the juubi Jin but would've lost to a book and in a very disappointing way jus like juubito did

Nagato got TNJ'd remember? That's why he never got Naruto.

Also, Naruto won against SO6P because of plot. He got intels, frogs, Kurama and Minato. If Naruto didn't had those things, the OP's fanfic would become a reality.
