Hi guys. I'm going to discuss about the conditions of the hypothetical fights, usually made by fans some series to conclude which character is stronger or who would beat who in a battle. Some fans like to discuss about fights between chars from different universes as well.
1- Energy
The first thing I'd like to discuss are energy measures. What exactly are them?
In many mangas there are different forms used to name and to measure the amount of energy in character. Some are very simple(like KI in db/dbz), some are more developed(chakra in naruto), and some works in different ways, with other kinds of "consequences"(like reiastsu, in bleach).
Well, it's obvious that they hold similarities, but we can't say they are the exact same thing, because there are some differences which are important. So, one could say that ichigo would easily beat goku and naruto in a fight, as they don't have reiatsu, and ichigo has a powerful reiatsu, for exemple.
However, the ideal way to make a hypothetical fight is to use a hypothetical universe in which these energy measures are the same thing. Why is that? Because with this, we would be analysing the fight with all the chars using their full potential, there would be no obstacle that would give any of the chars some kind of advantage.
In this way, the result of the fights will be based on the chars' feats and skills, the fight would me more fair.
2- Titles
The other thing I'd like to discuss is the titles that some characters have. "Oh, that char is a god/king/lord/demon" etc. These titles are not to be used like feats or abilities in a hypothetical fight. Why is that? Because these titles don't necessarily represent the exact power/skill of a char. The power between 2 gods change a lot even when they are from the same universe, let alone when they are from different universes.
An exemple: DBZ. We knoe that kami-sama and dende are gods on earth. We know that the kaioshins are gods, and that the supreme kais are gods. So, are they close to bills, who is a god as well? Of course not. Bills easily defeated gohan, so all of those above defeat gohan because they are gods? Of course not, and we've seen it.
Kratos, in the universe of god of war, he is a god. So, he beats gohan, because bills, who is a god, defeated gohan?
Again, there are evidences that proves otherwise. This is a mistake, obviously.
So, these titles are meaningless in an hypothetical fight. What we should use are feats and abilities/skills from a char to achieve a conclusion of who is the char who holds the higher probability to win.
I'm making this thread in order to help people to find the best way to create hypothetical fights, in order to fully analyse the chars' potential and abilities, and in order not to make the battle unfair, giving any char some kind of advantage.
Sorry for the long thread and thanks for the attention.
